:disagree: bodybuilders and strongmen have horrible endurance when it comes to running. not everyone's goal is to lift the heaviest weights or look huge. cardio is an important part of a balanced workout.
Well ALC, dont know if you heard but, there is more to bodybuilding then the mister olympia contesters, and there is more to strengthsports then the "open weight cathegory and strongman, wich i didnt include".

Most bodybuilders wich are amateurs, or not that juiced up and weighing 120kg at 1m74, will run surprisingly well considering their weight, cause trained for hypertrophy.

In strenghtsports, you compare the "open class", wich is a fraction of the sport. Go ahead and look at the -120, -105, -93, -85, -75, -63 classes. u'll find shredded athletes who never do cardio. And i can assure you they run just fine

Klokov, an olympic lifter said it the best once. He was asked if he did cardio. He replied "yes sometimes i squat over 10 reps"

Just because you look shredded, doesn't mean you have endurance. And that was a joke by Klokov. I guarantee you the dude will take forever to finish half a marathon. Let alone a whole marathon. Having a lot of muscle burns a lot of energy just staying still, having to move it for miles at a time will burn even more.

If you want to build some muscle, riding a good racebike is far better if your training is to weak and you need cardio.
I don't need cardio, I barely do cardio because I'm trying to stack weight but I just find it laughable to dismiss it like that. Ask JCK if his workouts are weak because he does a lot of cardio. Ask someone whose main goal isn't to gain weight if their workouts are weak. My point is that cardio isn't just for losing weight

There is a massive difference between doing 30mins cardio, and having the endurance to run a maraton.

Cardio increases your stamina a bit. But its just 30 minutes. Strength athletes arent build for endurance, but neighter is a person who does "cardio".

You make an odd point about weakness of workouts. Jack builds his endurance to long distances...by doing exactly that. He uses his workouts to strengthen and improve his mandatory muscles a bit, without gaining weight. But he is not building that endurance by running distances.

I however wont ask people wether their workouts are weak, because they cant place "weak workouts".

From powerlifting point of view, if you didnt burn most of your muscleglycogene during your training, then your training was weak. Wich is not the same as feeling the effects of lactic acid. Someone who never burns trough his glycogene in 75% of his trainings, is having a weak workout from powerlifting pov

I still think that 30 minutes of cardio is a lot better than none. You'll increase your VO2 max and your muscles will get used to running. Size can affect your mobility too.

Im not sure if it's a lack of muscle or the fact that my job obligates me to stand for 7-8 hours of the day, but my knees (left one in particular) can cause me considerable pain when working out?
I'm taking glucosamine but it appears to be having no affect so im worried there's been damage done there.

Directly under the patella, its a sharp pain at first, then a numb pain.

My left knee will often click when i squat down.

Tendons most likely
Yeah they need to adapt.

Its annoying, but it doesnt compare to when your rotator cuff starts giving out, cause you bench ellbows wide open.
So it'll go away in time?

I try to be aware of my elbows when I bench barbells so I think my form on that is pretty good. Hoping I don't fuck up anything in the shoulder. It just got back to normal after I dropped a dumbbell backwards.
