They really sent the big guns in, huh?

I actually hope Arsenal sign a good striker this season, although I don't think it's Wenger's strong point. In that team they create and create, so someone has to score the goals. Without Van Persie last year even turds like Walcott managed to grab a piece of the action. With a proper striker they might be able to celebrate the 3rd place title, and it would prevent a complete breakdown from delusional Arsenal fans (who all live within 10 minutes walk of the Emirates, of course).

We think it's hard watching our top player situation, imagine seeing the players United, Chelsea and City pick up each year.

Fill with what? Certainly not trophies.
"For me, there are five 'trophies' – the first is to win the Premier League, the second is to win the Champions League, the third is to qualify for the Champions League, the fourth is to win the FA Cup and the fifth is to win the League Cup.

17 of those, plus any financial scudetti they've had since.

Well.. I do understand every Arsenal fan frustration really. Just swimming in the river without any chance of catching any branch. It's better to not fill 41k stadium and win, rather than fill 60k stadium and fail anyway

You can't speak about facts and then go through a scenario from the future. Unless you have a Tardis, perhaps? Didn't we also have an 'agreement' with Agüero and Van Persie? I'm quite sure we did, based on these 'factual' sources.

Doesn't matter our 'agreement' or the size or strength of competitors, if someone else comes in with more money for the transfer fee and/or wages then the selling club, player and agents are going to consider it.

Of course, I see the prevailing argument of 'just pay what they want', even though people know we do not operate that way. It's pretty damn obvious that you can sign a player by agreeing to the exact terms requested on every transfer, but then we are not running this show like the Secco days anymore. Madrid say 30, we say 20, and then we aim for 25, that's a transfer negotiation and not at all unreasonable for our club.
How do you not see the fault in our approach? We have an agreement with the player. I am not talking about our negotiations. Nor am I saying we need to pay 30m for him. But if he is who we want, and is our number 1 target for this summer, then we owe it to our coach and to the team and fans that we go out and sign him and not make a fool of ourselves for the third year running.

The way I propose we do that is, after finding an agreement with the player, negotiate with his team, but instead of beating around the bush with loan and installment deals we make our offer in outright, just like European teams do.

Right now, it's not about Arsenal offering 3m than what Juve are proposing. It is about Juve not only offering less money but also choosing the terms of that payment, spread over 5 years. Madrid would not ruin relations with us over 3m euros. The player himself has an 'agreement' of some sort with us, so the wages clearly are not a stumbling block, just like they weren't for Aguero and RvP.

To me, if we lose Higuain to Arsenal, then it is our fault. Not because they are offering 3m more to the club or more wages to the player. This deal could and should have been closed with intent because we have been on it with quite the headstart and have a stronger project for Europe. IF this was the player that Conte and Juve wanted we should've gone out there, played hardball, but moved with clear intent, instead of negotiating a lower fee on installments.

We were 93.8% full last season, the highest in Serie A.
