You seem to be aware that we had an agreement with RvP and Aguero. Clearly, you didn't have your legal department run through the terms of those contracts.
You see that is my opinion, that we probably had principal agreements will several big strikers we didn't sign. Then we got gazumped. That's my opinion at least, which is different to fact. We are talking early stage stuff, maybe not even a handshake, certainly not 'we have an agreement so just give them what they want and ciao Pipita', which is what you are suggesting.

As fans, the sources of information we have access to will always be the same: the press. If you scroll down my post, I've quoted the word agreement, to suggest that we are pretty close to one if we don't already have one, and that again, is more to suggest that he's ok with the personal terms we would be offering him. When Bronzetti, the agent handling this deal talks about close to a 70 percent possibility, you could say that certain filters have been met. Can't see any other reason behind our trips to Madrid over the last month and a half.
I've scrolled along and found you saying:
Added to the fact that we already have an agreement with the player.
So it's fact.

Very different scenario to lose out on a player you've been in advanced talks with
Now we're in advanced talks.

pretty much have an agreement with him
Now we don't really have an agreement with him at all. I'll just be simple on this; there are no facts to suggest we have an agreement with Higuain.

We've already had confirmation from Bronzetti, Perez and Higuain's agent that there have been discussions, suggested indirectly with Bronzetti as a go-between by Higuain's agent. Nothing advanced or in detail. Next we're going to Madrid.

My point should be obvious, but you're essentially asking me to discuss things that haven't happened, just a scenario you've played out in your mind.

Again, we will probably close a defender (Ogbonna) before a striker. Deduced from the guesswork in the media reports I come across. Cant say i agree with that. Also now that Arsenal are in the picture, this deal looks harder to crack than it could otherwise have been. But since the reports mean nothing, no point speculating on the little facts we know. Let's just wait and see what happens.
Yes, deals are very easy when you just give teams what they want. Ho hum, we can't do that.

I also think it's wide of the mark to suggest we can't negotiate several deals concurrently. Manager's in England spend most of their day during the transfer window on the phone to clubs and agents, it would be the same if not worse for someone like Marotta. If we are talking about allocating money that is a different thing, and personally I don't think it impacts on our signings. Our transfer spending doesn't suggest that at all.

We have a budget for each transfer. If we refuse to pay an extra €2m for a striker it's not because we spent €12m on a defender, it's because we think the striker is above our valuation ("too expensive"). We could piss €100m away, I'm quite sure. Actually I think some would quite like that.
