Of course he is, Rossi is the most likely yet to actually become a great player based on Villarreal. But let's get real here, hype is permanent in this business and hype doesn't prove a thing.

So far Rossi isn't even equal to Iaquinta let alone Trez. The rest is pure hype, speculation, wishful thinking. It'd be one thing to say let's replace Trez with Villa. Villa is superb, definitely a worthy successor. But some kid who's had a couple of good seasons and everyone hopes will be the next star because Italy desperately needs one? Please.
Rossi is a proven player not some random kid who had a few good games.

Rossi isnt equal to Iaquinta? why you say that?
Iaquinta has a long and successful career in Serie A. He's also fully integrated at Juve and proven himself with us. And he's willing to be a sub, which is important because we need someone like that.

In one sense Iaquinta is the most valuable striker we have. He's the Zalayeta, the Amoruso, the wildcard. Except he's much better than they were.

but thats the thing, its not fair to compare a new young talent with a player who has been here for a while already.

When we talk about talent only then GR is the clear winner.

Are we looking to buy Rossi to send him on loan or is he supposed to play for us? If the latter, why is it unfair to compare him with our existing players?

What is talent? How do you measure talent? More importantly, how do you calculate to what degree talent produces a great player? Did Denilson not have buckets of talent?

as the argument shifts and fizzles

I'm getting tired. Only so much of this I can take at my advanced age. Maybe if you sent me a postcard once in a while then I can include you in this totally off-topic,sent the thread off its tracks conversation.

You forget, I used to be the MASTER of sending threads off-topic

Because to me, he's one of types of players who plays as if he truly appreciates what it means to be part of a team like this. I am not saying that others on this team don't, but to me the difference with him is that expectations for him aren't always the highest, but yet he seems to do things that exceed those expectations.

He's a lunch pail type of player. He's not really pretty in anything he does, he doesn't have a trememndous amount of flair, but he's just one of those blue collar dudes that doesn't mind getting his nose bloodied for the good of the team

..I wonder how much of this is really just fans attributing thoughts and emotions onto our players... like pet owners do with their dogs and crap like that.
Or maybe it is seeing a player that never complains when left on the bench and who always works his bollocks off for the team?
