What insurance company will insure the risk for a player with a condition that will likely make him drop dead during stressing intervals ?
Exactly

Plus while insurance would cover the financial liability the club would take on it still wouldn't remedy the hole in the squad an incident would create

well, if we end up with all the players i think we will (Berna, Szczesny, MdS, a top CM) and add Keita now that Schick wont come, it will still turn out great for me. the only place we would have downgraded on would be RB (only because we have Barza who i doubt anyone thinks is inferior to Bonucci atm, and its impossible not to downgrade on last seasons Alves anyway).

a mercato like this, where we lose 2 starters (CB but with quality alternatives still here, RB), sign 2 starters on other positions (RW, CM), and improve our attacking depth which we desperately lacked, is obviously a good one for me. the problem is we havent even signed Berna and the CM yet, let alone Keita, and its half of July. strange and atypical mercato for Beppe
We are definitely going to need to add those players you mentioned.

It just seems chaotic to me this year for some reason, and the Schick situation just amplified that feeling for me. I don't blame the team doctors or Beppe for not going through with it, but it just seems like we are spinning our wheels at the moment. Especially compared to the last few seasons when it seemed that the squad was basically in place at this pointg

Why people are upset at Marotta not signing Schiek?! What's the point of medicals then if not to prevent the club making a mistake in signing an unhealthy player.

The Shick situation shouldn't amplify anything. It is a shame that we'll have to pass up on Schick but Beppe will sign someone else with that money (i.e. Keita).

There's nothing Chaotic about this mercato. It'd be chaotic if we had sold Alex Sandro.

How dare they not sign a player with an existing heart condition!

Ridiculous. I'm more concerned with the long-term well-being of Patrik Schick than anything else. It's only football at the end of the day.

It amplified the way I felt in that it just seems that things aren't going our way right now. As far as the young man is concerned, his health takes precedence over anything else.

Apparently we had a plan without an alternative and that plan did not work, from Scheck's health conditions to Bonucci leaving and Viola being Viola. There is still time but it is not like we are used to getting things done as early as mid July. What I would prefer now is the team to step back and analyse what shall be done and do a holistic attack on the market later on.

What if the media have been thrown completely off-guard and the Beppster is working on something really big? :green:

I'm really worried, I have to say, but let's remember what kind of names we brought in last season. Higuain, Alves, Pjanic, Cuadrado with obligation to buy, Benatia.

Very high quality players and big names.

What if we simply aren't interested in the "Keitas" of this world anymore, and this is one of the reason everything is taking so long?

What if we are primarily chasing big players + incredible talents, mainly?

In the incredible talents category we can place Schick and Bernardeschi, Serie-A's greatest talents. We had a deal for one of them and it fell through because the lad didn't pass his medical. It happens. And we're very close to bringing in the other one.

De Sciglio? Well obviously not a big player nor a great talent, but there has to be some exceptions to the rule. We need depth. I'm more than okay with his move, as long as he's not brought in to be a starter.

Bonucci? Sucked to lose him, and the way it happened left a sour taste. But the relationship between club and player had completely broken down and he refused to move abroad. Add to the equation that he and his agent pressed for the Milan move, and there was practically nothing that could be done. Ok I suppose one could've told him: You're under contract, shut up and play, but why risk having a pissed off player and a bad dressing room atmosphere from now on?

Finally; Do I really believe that things will now turn for the better?

Not really :pumpkin: The most likely scenario is that our mercato is just as messy as it seems to be, and that we will be left disappointed.

But what if, ragazzi. What if!

No sense of direction, might as well let me and Rakib deal with the transfers.
