"and as for Vidal I asked him before I went to meet the Bayern Munich leadership" does not equal "Vidal asked to leave"

It essentially says "we wanted to sell him strategically and he agreed"

Please bear this in mind in your further discussion.

Also keep in mind that after Götze transfer collapse there is no reason to gift him to Bayern when Benitez has verifiably been fapping to Vidal.

Doing so is a mistake.

Well, wanting out isn't the end of the world. All good clubs/management should use that as an opportunity to correct some impressions or needs. Sometimes a player needs to see what else is out there to realize how good they have it at home before they re-up.

But showing a player the door just because they say they want out is both rash and a stunted conversation/opportunity.
Well, in terms of Bayern and a pay increaes it not hard to see "what is out there" or "how good they have it here" when they will probably have it better at a wealthier club like Bayern. They win too, its not like he was window shopping in Milan. Bayern probably declared interest and they told Vidal or his agent told him.

Further more, he will walk into that lineup. So it shouldn't be up for debate on how well he would have it there vs here because he will undoubtedly play and get paid more and probably continue adding to his trophy cabinet.

It is in one way or another similar to shooting yourself in the foot to gain some reputation only to find out that the ones you wanted to be popular among are now laughing at you.

Money always helps, but it isn't everything. Depends on the person. And Juve should have the chance to counter.

Bayern is a great club with insane dominance right now. But Juve isn't too shabby either these days.

You're probably right in that Bayern declared interest (though NOT because of Schweinsteiger leaving as some have suggested) and Vidal saw it as a new challenge with a lot of potential upside.

Bayern were slaughtered by Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent years. The kind of butchering that is far more unlikely to happen to us IMO.

Personally I see Bayern winning a CL before Juve does. I am trying to be objective and not a diehard Juve fan here. I think Vidal probably knows that is probably the last trophy he needs to complete his cabinet and at 28 he doesn't have much time. A 5 year contract at 6.5m a season isn't bad. His upside is he continues wining league titles and National cups like he would here. Make more but play for an equally alluring team. Packed stadiums and atmospheres plus maybe he misses Germany since is Bayer days?

I mentioned somewhere, the only players I really see Juventus keeping long LONG term would be Italians like Marchisio/Chiellini/Bonucci - the ones that either come young or through the youth setup. We have always been about national team players so it seems like a move they would make.

Hell, from the clubs point of view - we make the rumored 40m from Vidal, that gives us enough for maybe 2 players that really increase the quality of our lineup.

Marotta just said that he asked if Vidal wanted to leave and he confirmed. Pretty obvious since he was informed Vidal had already accepted a contract offer from Bayern.

It's different from a situation where a player demands to leave no matter what, he doesn't want to play for Juventus anymore.

In this case, if Marotta can't get 50M for Vidal anywhere else (something I doubt), the correct procedure is to hold the deal with Bayern until he finds a replacement. IF he finds it, he does the deal.

We are stacked in the midfield. I don't think a Vidal replacement is necessary. The money is needed for an AM spot.

In regards to what you said about Bayern being able to win the CL before us, well with Vidal this has become easier to say. He will give them a much much needed balance...not to mention that one of their opponents became weaker.

Banitez want vidal that badly? Why real Madrid do not outbid bayern?

I am not sure there is a club who want vidal more than Bayern.
I agree with you, Bayern is the club that needs Vidal most and we did not take advantage of their weak position.

And perhaps Vidal sees that.

It's our job then to show him that with him staying here, not only we are also aiming to win but also showing him that he is in a club where he has a very important position. What did we do instead?
We sell 1 player and buy 2 to make the team better? Maybe even 1 that still makes the team better?

i just hope, Marotta will invest money well.
