Anelka? I ain't even mad. That's the deal we got with Marotta. For every brilliant signing like Pirlo, Vidal and Pogba, Marotta wants the freedom for his annual charity where guys like Anelka and Peluso fit. It's all good, he has earned that right. He likes to give the less fortunate a chance which is what makes him an even greater man. The humanitarian side of him :touched:
nah this is the biggest fuck up of all time.

But before anything official comes out we know that such a move is typical from Marotta, don't you agree?
I don't entirely agree with that. The "free transfer" thing is obviously something that we're familiar with. But signing players who earn massive wages really isn't. Which is why the possible arrival of Anelka would be a big surprise for me. For what it's worth, I thought the exact same thing about Drogba, even when half the forum was convinced he'd sign.

Of course, if Anelka were to take a massive paycut & would be ok with wages similar to Vidal, Marchisio, etc, it does become a possibility.

Last January and in the summer.
Please tell me more about these signings, keep in mind that Borriello was a loan.

It doesn't matter if it's a loan, co-own or full ownership. Borriello was acquired after failing to sign tons of other players. Bendtner was brought in the exact same conditions and it looks like Anelka too is a last resort. Elia was brought in the same manner the summer before, how could I forget that?

The pattern I am talking about is, contacting players, failing to reach terms with the club (because Marotta does NOT negotiate), try another and another and in the end bring someone just for the sake of bringing someone.

Jack, I really like you as a person and a poster - I don't think we should talk further about this. I couldn't possibly conjure up a reply to this without being derogatory towards you and the way you perceive football. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

There is no excuse for even considering Anelka. Anelka ffs. Why him?! There's a gazillion other strikers out there and you want to bring in the worst of the bunch. Seriously, we could get Pellisier or Amauri and they'd be better than Anelka.

Toni was actually a good buy imo. I'd rather have him back.

If only he knew how to haggle.
