What do you want me to say? Marotta promised us a quality player in attack, and with just over 24 hours left in the mercato, he has failed to deliver. Plain and simple. Shitbags like Bendtner, Borriello, and Floccari don't count, as they are neither upgrades or improvements in any way, shape or form.

This whole Plasma/LCD talk, and we are targeting quality, was all BS. He should've just shut his mouth, or spoken the truth, instead of leaving it too late, and ending up empty handed and embarrassed.

Regarding Jovetic, had we acted early, instead of pondering and procrastinating, I'm sure we could've gotten him. As for Cavani, I'm quite certain an offer of 30-35 + Gio would've sealed the deal. Did we have the money? That's another issue. I don't really know. As for Llorente, we may still get him (in January or next summer), but I doubt it. The bottom line is we need a quality player up front, and we haven't bought anyone yet. Marotta is accountable.

If by 'pushed hard enough' you mean 'offered enough money', then sure. We seem to have offered a lot of money for Jovetic, but Fiorentina won't sell to us.

See, it might be easy for us to sign a certain level of player from Serie A, but clubs of a stronger standing would rather sell their players abroad, for more money and not in direct competition. I suppose we would have to pay €35m+ for Jovetic, and €45m+ for Cavani to even tempt guys like ADV and ADL.

I never asked for impossible targets, but just as he was able to add depth and raise the quality of our midfield, he should've given a thought to our weakest department, the attack. Hence, he is accountable, because if he had a budget he was working with and wasted some of it on meaningless signings (the few million on the youngsters, redeeming Gio, failure to generate/raise more money by selling all that deadwood), than that is ultimately his responsibility.

I'm not calling for his head, but he most definitely deserves to be criticized and held accountable, more so for his words than actions.

People need to stop making excuses for Marotta. Juventus has been one of the biggest spenders in Europe for the past two seasons. The money is there, CL is there, Scudetto is there, new stadium is there, yet Marotta cant deliver on his top striker search. I thought you were the one telling lies, claiming that HE promised a WC signing. Mind you, the plasma talk was all Agnelli.

Can you for once, in a decent and honest manner, explain, how the hell do you think that Cavani (who De Laurentis issued a release clause of €55M (not that it matters much, but it just shows how much he rates his striker)) and RVP (who United got for £24M while giving him wages we surely can't afford) were not impossible targets?

Llorente - Bilbao's president demanded clubs to pay his €36M release clause. There's no way we should've paid that for him. Even so, he was on his last year of his contract.

Cavani - De Laurentis wanted the world for him. He was not achievable in any way, but whatever.

Jovetic - Not the player we needed, but if we are to believe rumors, we bid €30M for him and they rejected it.

What exactly did you want us to do? Just pay them?

The fact that he was actually interested in Berbatov, but didn't actually ask for him until he passed for Fiorentina shows a lot. In my world, it would be Fiorentina asking after us, and not before us. From my point of view, it's very tough not to be very critical of him because he seems like a rookie everytime he's interviewed about something. Personally I hope not, I'd much rather stick with our current attackers than signing any random player just for the sake of it.

Why did Marotta drop these names when asked about prospective targets then? He shouldn't have gotten our hopes up. He should've just come out and said, we won't be targeting a top player, and that I'm full of shit and can't close a deal for over 20 Million.

Jovetic was possible, Llorente was doable, and with Cavani we should have overpaid considering how much better he would've made our team. 30-35 Million + Giovinco would've been so worth it considering what he has to offer. All of them would have commanded wages within our structure.

Regarding RVP, I'd like to think that had we got on it early, and sealed the matter swiftly and decisively instead of pondering and procrastinating (sniffing around), we would've gotten him, irrespective of his wages. Van Persie himself stated that it wasn't about the money, but about a club with ambition and a desire to win trophies. I'm sure Arsenal could've offered him an improved contract, but he didn't like the direction in which the club was heading. Nonetheless, if Marotta knew how much he was earning, and what his demands were, why did he target him in the first place?

I respect our wage structure, but I think it should be revised to accommodate the top players, and allow us to compete at the very top of the European ladder. I'm not saying we should go all apeshit like Barca, Madrid, City, Chelsea, or PSG, but perhaps following the Bayern model might serve us well (considering they reached the CL final twice over the past 3 seasons).
