Barzagli was bought as a cheap Italian option. We are looking at his purchase like he was always the player we've seen this season. He transformed under Conte.
Still it's a player that Marotta brought for cheap. If he was Moggi signing, many would consider him as a Cannavaro-esque signing.
Vucinic came in after we lost out on Aguero and possibly every other high profile target Marrotta had mentioned. That too, it was eventually Conte who wanted the wing forward after all other options closed down.
So it's Marotta's fault that City offered crazy money for Aguero and than he joined the. As I remember correctly we already had agreed transfer and than City came in. Also we were linked with Vucinic for whole summer and not just after we lost Aguero. Also it seems that you are close friend of Conte because it seems that you know his every wish.
Caceres is the same player Beppe got rid off a season earlier and didn't renew his loan, so safe to conclude Conte asked for him in January.
Wrong again, Caceres had a signing clause which Marotta thought it's big and rightfully so. And everyone here thought that it was right decision to not sign him. And in the winter it was between him and Guarin. Of course that Conte had a role in his signing, I don't want a manager who will sign players without coach's approval. They need to work as a team.
As for Vidal, to the best of my knowledge, I could be wrong about this but Marrotta wanted Inler, it was Conte who asked for Vidal.
Even if you are right, this proves how good pair Marotta and Conte are. And again Marotta listened to Conte and brought him player he wanted.
Licht too said it was the phone call from Conte that convinced him to join Juve.
Conte convinced him, but again it was Marotta who bought him. It's normal that players talk with the coach and hear his plans.
Point is, the money was well spent in the absence of the high profile signings that were promised. And in his time with Juve he has spent a lot of the club's money, almost to a failing degree. The reason why everybody calls this scudetto a miracle, is because Conte transformed a team that lacked world class quality into champions. For the amount of money we have spent, we could and should have had bigger players on our books. This season, there are no excuses. Because its pretty evident that a large part of the credit is owed to Conte's work and methods. Not Marrotta's prowess in the market. This season for me is what will eventually decide Marrotta's fate as a GM worthy of Juve or not in the long run.
I partly agree with this part. Conte played a huge role in our success. But also it's not right to not give any credit to Marotta. He brought players that Conte wanted, and both of the are reason why won Scudetto. Did Marotta made mistakes? Of course he did. But even Moggi made them (O'neill, Baiocco etc.).
What my point is that for everything good that happened to our club it's because we were lucky, Conte etc. And for everything bad it's because Marotta... In this mercato Marotta should prove himself, but also let's be real and lower a little bit our ambitions. When I say lower, I mean let's not pretend that real life is Football Manager and that we can't bring 2 WC strikers, midfielders and defenders. As Marotta said we will ad quality and by that I think he means one WC player, others will be solid players.
Also let's not forget that we were never a club like Madrid or Chelsea, City, Barca, that every season brings WC players. We always been a solid team made of hardworking players and few WC players, and this Juve is finally starting to look like that team again.
