Toni and Forlan/Luis Fabiano seem more like reactionary or panic buys because of injuries and Amauri being a turd, rather than part of any strategy.

As for Barzagli it just seems like a Legro replacement, experienced 29 year old for a 34 year old.

Agreed on Aquilani. So far, he doesn't seem like a 15 million € player. Despite his obvious qualities.

Personally, what bothers me about Marotta is the lack of consistency. As if he doesn't have a real (long term) strategy.

The way in which he handled the Krasic deal for example is praiseworthy: acting with a lot of patience, not making any rushed deals & looking at all options / possibilities in order to save some money in the end.
But at the same time, other deals (both in & out going) were clearly rushed. Some turned out okay, some did not.

Trying hard to decrease the average age / payroll was also a smart move which deserves praise.
But at the same time he signed Toni & is apparently looking at Barzagli & Forlan.

Things just don't add up so far, imo.
go buck your fuddies...

and continue to enjoy the praise of spastic mormons....:juventus: :flag1:

other than Mark, and Hustini, out of the cliquey bullshit kunt crowd on here, after reading many threads today. its truly bothersome, that the same ignorant idiots, continue to put their virtual ego before any hint of optimism...AND, more importanly, love for the colours.

Thanks for calling me an ignorant idiot, Lopan :juventus:

I guess I really am a pessimist after all. And I'm sorry I put my virtual ego before my love for the colours. You clearly are a better fan than me :delpiero:

Toni was out of necessity. I doubt that Toni would be at Juventus if Quag hadn't gone down with that injury. But then again, take a look at the target men who are currently on the squad.

Amauri, who has been in a 2 year funk now, and iaquinta, although he has the size of a target man, really isn't one, so to speak.

It was just unfortunate that Toni got hurt 2 matches into his Juve career.

January transfer market is not the time where young, up and coming players get put on the market. Unless I'm toatlly incorrect in this assesment, I can't think of the last time someone of that caliber will have transferred in January unless an exorbatant sum of money has been transferred. Dzeko, for instance. But that is an anamoly rather than a consistent pattern. Manchester City has more money than practically anyone out there in football.

So we are left with a perplexing situation.

The team is riddled with injuries, and stopgap players are obviously needed if the goal is to make the Champions League next year.

You simply can't go the rest of the season with Del Piero, Iauqinta, and Amauri as your main strike force.

I don't think that it is going to work.

Would I pay 15 million for Diego Forlan? No, I would not. But that is what the market is bearing right now, especially in a situation such as Juve's where there is dire need for another striker

Who said that originally, Cronios? :D
Yeah, I think it was him :D

I'm not saying those are invalid points & I am more than willing to give Marotta the benefit of the doubt (just like I did, and in a way still do, when it came to Secco), but so far things just don't add up for me personally.

For now, I can't shake the feeling that for every step forwards we take, we take one backwards as well.

I guess we'll have a better idea of our (long term) strategy 6-7 months from now...

Whereas they might have exaggerated in terms of their reactions, their concern for Juventus seems genuine.

We are not in the Champions league this year, were eliminated in the first round of the Europa League by relative unknowns, and fourth place and a place in next season's CL looks anything but guaranteed.

Milan and Inter both have far superior squads, and it's not a stretch to say that both Roma and Napoli look stronger than us.

Judging by how Krasic has always claimed he wanted to join Juventus, and recently claimed he would only listen to our offers, I'm really not sure why we should praise Marotta for something delivered to him on a silver platter.

This sounds like a signing that even Badass Devil could pull the strings on.

Let the negative rep commence, but in reality, it was an easy signing.

Aquilani I can credit Marotta for. IT was a surprise signing and risk-free. The Loan option was the best for him, how much was the remaining to keep him 15 mil ish? If so I think it's well worth it. We are buying the next pirlo here :lol2:
