We could have paid the £25m for Van Persie, but wouldn't because he was in the last year of his contract. Marotta said that at the time.
Sure, but it was very unlikely that a player of that level was going to come any cheaper. Marrotta should've been more decisive because the 17th of August left him two clear weeks to ensure he didn't end up with Bendtner.

What do you mean buddy?
That you can't sign even world best player for 25 millions when he have only 1 year left on his contract, it's wrong politic

Lisandro Lopez has opened the door to a move to Tottenham in the summer after revealing that he is ready to quit Lyon.

The 30-year-old striker has reportedly become disillusioned following several rows with manager Remi Garde in recent weeks, and now wants to leave.

As Metro.co.uk revealed in February, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas is a long-term admirer of Lopez – who has managed 11 goals in 29 matches this term – and a summer deal is on the cards.

And it appears Spurs will have a clean run to sign the striker, with the player admitting he is very likely to quit Lyon at the end of the season.

'I don’t think it is possible for me to continue here,’ said Lopez.

'Before the end of the season I’m going to meet with the president and the coach and we’ll see.’

Spurs are set to restructure their front line in the summer, with at least two new strikers on the cards, while Emmanuel Adebayor could be moved on.

Lyon are thought to want up to £5million for Lopez, whose contract expires at the end of next season

I'm going to take a shot in the dark here and say that the majority of all of this hoopla happened immediately after Juve were eliminated from CL by a clearly superior Bayern Munich squad. Because I don't remember all of this fervor prior to this happening, at least not on this level.

I remember when Van Persie ended up going to United...I was watching his debut match and boom, the guy scores a brilliant brilliant goal. Like it was just to make sure we realized what we had just lost. I cried a little and thought to myself "Fuck you, Marotta" :sergio:

There is nothing about competent or incompetent. You can only sign players that cost alot of money if you have alot of money.

My biggest grind with Marotta is that he cannot sell players, he couldn't sell a 5 dollar hooker to Ron Jeremy ffs.

This summer he needs to make some decent change from selling players. It will only benefit our transfer budget.
