That wasn't what I said. I said that Anelka is a short-term fix. The Anelka deal isn't commanding an 11 million transfer fee.
Short term fix for what? Just like the Bendtner fix? Anelka isn't free and if your logic say that Lopez is finished because he's going to be 30 then what does it say about a 33 yo Anelka who scored just 3 goals in the Chinese league? I don't believe we have a heating problem with our bench to pay Anelka to solve it.

Even if the deals with Lopez fell through, why is it necessary to go get someone like Anelka ?

The same pattern every time, we fail to get our first, second, or third option and Marotta saves the day with his brilliant signings ala Borriello, Bendtned and soon to be Anelka.

All of this goes down to his incompetence really, failing to get Immobile back :howler:
Just on this point, there are two scenarios under the co-ownership agreement:

- Genoa say they are not selling him, discussion ends right there
- We overpay for his half to get him back

I assume you'd be quite happy with the second option?

I don't think Lisandro is finished, I just believe that all things considered, it was reasonable not to pay 11m for him. Because he's a lesser player than what he used to be, not because he's finished.

Rest assured Juventinho, I'm not particularly pleased with the Anelka-deal. I'm gonna throw up when I see him in our jersey...

I think it's fair to criticize the Anelka-deal, but in the end, not a lot of money will be spent on this deal, and it's probably just a calculated extra cost to deal with the gap Bendtner left behind. And all in all I'm not too worried.

We'll get Llorente in the summer, and I'm sure we're gonna ship Anelka's ass back out and look for someone better.

Yes, they sold Agüero for €45m and bought Falcao for €40m.
We are third highest spender in the world, we could have easily sign a striker in his calibre.
Problem is not the spending power but use of funds.

How about stop giving them option to buy?

I would've liked to have Lisandro here, but in the end Marotta opted not to pull the trigger due to the costs. I think that all things considered, it was a reasonable decision.

Buying Lisandro for 11m wouldn't have been a disastrous decision, though. But in my opinion, not buying him isn't worthy of heavy criticism due to Lisandro's age and him not being quite the player he used to be.
It's cute how you toned it down from ''disastrous'' to just ''bad'' i bet you remembered Elia & Martinez, anyway over paying for someone we desperately need isn't all that bad, in fact sometimes football has to come first and it's definitely better than over paying for someone that we won't use at all.

I don't appreciate all that recent panic-buy mood he has gone into. Get your game together Giuseppe. Anelka is not needed, and would have rather if he has given the opportunity to Gabbiadini or any other youngster with potential to prove himself. I don't like how Italian teams usually don't trust youngsters.

I didn't think about any deal in particular deal when I edited my post, I just noticed that I had used the wrong adjective, that's all. I just wanted to convey that signing Lisandro Lopez wouldn't have been a bad deal, just as I believe it wasn't a bad decision not to sign him. The reason I wrote disastrous was due to a figure of speech we have in Norway (by intentionally overemphasizing) that didn't translate quite well to english.

You fail with targets and go after others, is that news?

It looks fairly set we'll go for a least a 4th-5th option striker given Bendtner's injury, and we also have worries against Vucinic and Giovinco for the more immediate future.

Fair enough, anyway i do not see the need of signing Anelka even if we fail to get Lopez as someone mentioned above, promoting someone from the youth system would have been a better investment.

 Sometime you must overpay to fill your teams needs and it's ok. What's not ok is to overpay for the likes of Matri, Martinez, Isla...

Don't you find it pathetic that we found ourselves in this situation ?

As this is turning into a perverted discussion, people shouting from rooftops without any real reason, I would like to say that The Society has no intention of continuing this chain of idiotic opinion exchange.

See you when you actually have something legitimate to bitch about.

ya except this guy looks more like 50th option, and cheese demonstrated a trend that no one can deny. You know that guy is not infallible and you dont have to justify his f-ups
