We don't know why Vidal is going. Could be a number of reasons, one being that he asked to leave, which really leaves us with no choice. Then there are other reasons that include his off the field behavior. We don't know what he's like away from the pitch. Maybe Marotta does and this latest incident was just the final nail.

No one on this board would have sold him in his peak form, even for 100M. So we have to stop with that theory. If last year was the start of Vidal's decline then we have to sell now. It looked like his athleticism returned as his knee got better but his offence was still nowhere to be found, that must be said. Vidal without the offence is a very different player.

If Vidal didn't ask to leave and his character off the field is better than it seems, and it turns out that we sold him on our own accord, it's a big gamble - I agree.

But no one is going to pay 60M for him with the injury, his offence nowhere to be found, and his drinking and driving. Yes, we did not get as much for him as we could have gotten at his peak (when no one in their right mind would sell) but in a year it's ALSO possible that we could be left with a damaged player worth nothing.

Ultimately you have to see who replaces Vidal and how the TEAM functions in the upcoming season without him. If you add a #10, move Asamoah to CM and buy a good young LB, it's possible our team does not miss Vidal. This is the ultimate wait and see scenario for me.
"would have"...you don't know this, so the statement is a theory on your part

you should have watched the Copa America. If you think Sanchez carried the team's attack you are wrong

An entire season is a larger sample than the Copa, where he scored 3 goals (2 PKs). If we go by the Copa then Isla will be our starting RW. I think we can all agree Vidal's offence did not return last year.

Damn :delpiero:

In any case I've witnessed plenty of times when we decided to reshuffle our team. Get some new and quality players, more motivated that aspire to reach important objectives in their careers. Us older guys will remember when we sold two pillars in our attack, Vialli and Ravanelli, along with Paulo Sousa form the middle after winning CL. Two consecutive CL finals followed. Zidane, arguably one of the greatest football players in the history was sold, but people can't get over Vidal. I'd have preferred if he stayed, but time to move on I guess and support newly arrived players instead of secretly hoping they flop.

why do people want to justify this? We just sold our engine out there, the best box to box midfielder in the world for 35m. Let's just take this massive LOSS that was handed to us, admit to it being fuckin' dumb and be critical for a while.

Some of you guys are reaching just to find a way to justify this. He's not too old, he's not injury prone and he doesn't have character issues shown the 4 years he's been here.

We're getting stronger.. Just give the team some time to match and there u can see we're upgrading..
I don't see it.

We don't need Vidal from last season. What you actually want is 2013/14 Vidal, now that is entirely different matter. If he gets to his best at Bayern you'll get full credit.
That's just wishful thinking and a bunch of guesses.

so it's okay to sell vidal, because he is 28, had a meh season after a serious injury that he may never recover from (despite proving otherwise after an awesome tournament)

but khedira who is 28, recovered from a serious injury, and had a terrible season is going to be a good signing as his replacement.

are u guys serious? do u not see the hypocrisy?
Khedira was a very good signing in the context of knowing that he was a good option for rotation. Now he's a crucial part of our starting line-up. It changes everything.

Wow, Vidal is suddenly past it and it's a given he won't return to his best because it's not normal to have a bad season after a serious injury. But of course, Asamoah and Khedira, who are both coming from serious injuries themselves, are our saviors. And a new LB of course.

Marotta wasn't happy with his character, give me a break.

Even Conte himself never once said anything about Arturo's character off the pitch, and we all know how much Conte was fixated about that.

They are running out of excuses.

2 PKs he won by himself while dribbling circles around the opponent, also 2 assists denied due to wrong offside calls.

Isla committed many defensive mistakes throughout the tournament. He was just lucky to be on the right team. Vidal carried the whole tournament, defensively and offensively.

And the trend is your friend, as they say.

BEPPE IS GOD

There, do you get why Im defending it now?

Beppe fucking MADE Vidal. Pulled him out of Leverkusen for a small fee, when he was just a funny-looking, chipmunk-faced nobody. And he will make more stars. Morata on the verge of being a world beater. Dybala next.

We are in safe hands. Wait and see.

The best place on the net :)

But joking aside I already said that Vidal was one of my fav players and preferred that he had stayed, deep down I had a gut feeling he won't get to his best though.

No one is reaching to justify the sale. No one is trying to discredit Vidal or make up fantasies about him. But there are pros and cons about the player just like there are everything in life.

It's undeniable that as the season went on Vidal got stronger. His athleticism returned and he was back to destroying everything that moved. He was running like 2 men just as he had at his peak form. But on the other side, the offence didn't return. That fact is shown in the statistics and by watching his play.

On one side you have a player that in his peak form is arguably the best CM in the world. And on the other side, well, he almost killed himself and his wife this past off-season. So if you acknowledge his virtues, you have to acknowledge his transgressions.

If you choose to put aside objectivity and ignore what a player might do in the future because of what he has done for you in the past... well.. one day you wake up like Inter did and you find yourself with absolutely fucking nothing. These players are not immortal. Sometimes there are warning signs staring you right in the face.

Personally, I always thought this is what separated us from Inter and Milan. Our ability to keep the team moving regardless of who's in the side. This is why I choose to wait and see instead of jump off a bridge.

My first reaction is that I do not want to sell Vidal. But this is not a dead end for Juventus.

Because Marotta never makes a mistake.
