From what I've seen half of the people say it's great and half says it's really bad.

I don't know if people are objective when they say it's bad. And I also wonder if it's just wrong to compare it to season 1 which was probably just too good.

I haven't started yet but I will not compare to season 1, it can't be beaten in any way. That being said, season 2 was really bad in comparison to season 1 but it was OK without having to think of the masterpiece before it.

I really couldn't stand season 2. I think it was horrible and I didn't even finish it. I watched like 4 episodes and it was really bad imo.

Btw I'm watching A Series of Unfortunate Events.

I'll probably watch True Detective as well and there's Punisher season 2 coming these days.

Season 3 is interesting so far good first two episodes but I don't expect it to compare to season 1, just to be good on its own.

Anyone else who has watched the first two episodes feel like there is a West Memphis Three vibe that is way too strong to be a coincidence? I am sure it will have its own flavor but that group of teenagers they have interviewed has to be inspired, the sensitive intellectual is Damien and the kid with the Sabbath shirt is Jessie.

I've watched 4 episodes of A Series Of Unfortunate Events and I liked the style at first, but don't you find it repetitive? The adults are also acting stupid for example when they don't recognize count Olaf and all around some things happening makes it a frustrating experience haha.

Hahah I think that's the point and why I love it. It's like that till the end It's rather unique and like a fairy tale, which is rare and I enjoy those. When you think about it, yeah, it's rather stupid and silly but also very creative and unique. It's hard to think of such ideas mixed with a silly plot but still very entertaining. There are always some secrets which are shown at the end and I liked seeing those. I also think some of the characters are really amazing and funny, like that banker and that little baby. The narrative of Lemony Snicket is really nice and reminds of Wes Anderson's Budapest Hotel. Absurdity makes it so perfect and I have a feeling I could watch 5 more seasons. I have one episode left to finish it, though.

This is all from the books. The stories are supposed to be quite absurd, the oblivious nature of the adults a strong point. I think we (the readers or viewers) are supposed to find this frustrating, the unbelievable blindness and stupidity of adults, the repetitive tragedies surrounding the Baudelaires in each separate story.

It works to a degree, even if it can get a little too silly at times.

I couldn't get past 15 minutes of true detective, that black character is not only unbelievable but his overacting is unbearable, and i could already tell they are trying to go for the season one formula but pretty sure they failed at that.
