So which of them have become the 51st state?
Not 51st state, but left in ruins. Also the people put in charge those countries are the most vile humans possible, but you won't hear about that on the news. The news for the Arab spring for example stopped as soon as US "liberated" them. I'm sorry that you have felt the consequences first hand or in any type or form, but that does not excuse the other side to do what it wants and worse.

I am Russia's neighbor and all its neighbors fear for their independence and territorial integrity. I dont think Canada and Mexico have the same fears, or any other European (Western) states for that matter.
That to me is lesser evil in a nutshell.

Canadian police arrest 11 people, seize guns from group linked to border blockade

OTTAWA, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Police in the Canadian province of Alberta on Monday broke up a group that was supposedly prepared to use violence to back a truckers' blockade at a border crossing with the United States, authorities said.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said they had arrested 11 people and seized 13 long guns as well as handguns and a large quantity of ammunition. Those arrested were reported to have "a willingness to use force against the police if any attempts were made to disrupt the blockade", the force said in a statement.

Maybe one day Russia will be a part of the EU, US alliance as this clip suggests. And perhaps then you'll be left alone to decide your own destiny. :xfingers:

Maybe one day Russia will become a democratic rule-of-law state for the first time in their miserable history.
Pfff. I really can't see it happening. Their history of authoritarian rulers is almost 8 centuries long and history weights heavy on them. Same goes for China. They have always been a super authoritarian state that puts zero value in their citizens life. I hope I'm wrong, man.

True. But every state was authoritarian throughout history, they just need to evolve already.

It would be awesome if it happens. As you say they need rule of law and (as Francis Fukuyama says) a government that is accountable to its people. Russia is centuries away from this. But I would fucking love it to happen.

I wasn't talking about Canada or Mexico but other countries and you know it. Also, I'm coming form Macedonia, a country in the middle of the Balkans I don't want to start to explain our situation here. Way worse than you are experiencing I'm sure. But that doesn't excuse Russia and US meddling in other countries affairs. Don't make the US the saviors because they are not.

Not to slag on my Russo buddies here (transplanted @Bisco etc.), but Russia is kind of an upside-down world. They're like the parallel universe in Counterpart. I have very low confidence that any idea or system of governance outside of Russia will work inside of Russia.

And you have been hurt by the US? How?
Like we were forced to take 150 000 refuges from Kosovo when Nato bombarded Serbia. And now it's a shit show because of that. They started a terrorist war which the US founded and gave them weapons and send mercenaries to fight with them and trained them. Also they forbade our military to do anything substantial against them or they were going to the same as they did to Serbia and we were forced to sign peace treaty that they wrote and orchestrated. The population of Macedonia is 2 million btw and that caused a lot conflict within the country to this day.

Ok it's no party, but sorry, IMO not even close to what Russia did and is doing to Ukraine, Georgia, and even Belarus.
