Man I feel bad for the city folks who don't want to live under barbaric rule.

Knowing how my family is, we probably would've escaped days before Kabul fell.
Exactly.

Which is why Westerners can't get cocky and not have a Plan B. You may not be Afghanistan, and you can be fat and entitled thinking your gubment will protect you.

But believe you me, one of my motivations for establishing a bank account and some residency here in Portugal was that the USA was also looking more and more (and still is) like a teetering single point of failure.

Guess who the leaders of Pan-Arabism where. Or rather the founders.

They mostly come from minorities within Arabs. My point being it originated with Arabs that were not beneficiaries of the tribal system. While those ideas did to an extent capture the imagination of Arab youth in the 70s and 80s, i think soon after that leaders of the Baathist governments in different countries started adopting more of a nationalist stance.

One of the worst things to happen to Islam in modern history.
Is it a modern thing though?

Are you trying to say that the law of Allah is not above any other law?
What is the "law of Allah"?

Ultimately, you and i both know there are so many different interpretations of the Koran and Sunnah. Just getting Muslims to agree on interpretations of verses and Sunnah is near impossible. So there is no way to even agree what the law of Allah is.

Then you get radical groups like these, who want to turn society into what it was 1400 years ago.

I'm not talking about Pan-Arabism or any political ideology.
ah sorry i thought u were talking about Pan Arabism.

Ah salafism! Yes I think most jihadists and radical groups have some sort of Salafist origin. I think its not new, but was revived and much more widespread by Saudi Arabia and its religious elites early and mid last century.

Even then the nationalist stance was more of a cover for the ruler. "father of the nation" kind of thing instead of just his clan. None of them actually cared about the people of the country, unless from their own tribe/family, much less so of Arabs from other countries.

Yes exactly. Look at the people around Saddam or Hafez, they still trusted their tribe above all else.

So I think this is going to happen next:

1- Taliban will go through a honeymoon period where they will be recognized by other nations as rulers of Afghanistan
2- they start doing some crazy shit, which international community obviously cannot tolerate
3- but military action is obviously out of the question so US will resort to 2nd best option: sanctions
4- Afghanistan is already poor so sanctions won’t have much effect in general well being of the country. But they need revenue from somewhere and high quality opium and heroin will see a sharp drop in price
5- economic suffering will intensify immigration
6- eventually the immigration trend will flatten. Taliban will consolidate power even further and world will forget about Afghanistan. Sanctions will remain in place though because Taliban’s “behavior” need to change.
7- North Korea, Cuba and Iran will welcome Afghanistan to their club: forever sanctioned.
8- rinse and repeat
