The gay adoption thread? I remember I used to argue with you about that. I changed my opinion since then. Actually, a couple of years ago, a new law was introduced here in Malta introducing civil unions for gays to get married and the right to adopt children.

Four years later I think it's good that kids are out of fosterhomes/adoption centers and put in a home (providing the couple are decent people). I still don't think homosexuality is normal, but I wouldn't treat anyone unfair because of their sexual orientation.

It may. I think several teenagers in time of confusion and rebellion come out as gay, even if they aren't just because it's "forbidden".. By going mainstream it won't be as "rebellious" anymore. That's just my opinion though. It don't think the number of people who identify will it will reduce drastic, but in certain groups of ages it will be changed.

I believe that there also comes a time where you gain more acceptance by showing normal behaviour. If a gay guy can actually wear 'normal' clothes and speak with a 'normal' voice that would show gays are an integral part of our culture, rather than something else.

I had to think about that for a while. My first reaction was to say publicly yes and privately no. Because while younger people may experiment perhaps, for a small minority there's an element of teenage rebellion for some and the public version of it can mean expressing a public identity as other teenagers might express being wannabe black rappers, punk rockers, or advocates of IS/Daesh. But as John Waters said this year at a commencement speech, "Gay is not enough anymore." (And I love John Waters.)

Identity politics being weird and all.

But what made me swing to think it will level out in the end is that there's possibly and equal and opposite minority that feel gay tendencies and are terrified of admitting that to anyone, including themselves. That may more than offset the former category.

So the more I think of it, the more I see the effects as being offset and relatively minor. But over a person's lifetime, perhaps more in favor in a slightly growing number of people who identify with it as they feel more allowed to admit the truth to themselves.
