A, I know exactly what you mean. Centuries of conditioning doesn't overturn so easily. Your neighbor is hardly unique. I remember living in Columbia, MD and a friend at work had an officemate who was only about 24 years old, and he was always spouting off about how the government should lock the cities, round up all the black people, and shoot everybody.

It's shocking, but ignorance is still in high demand in the world.

Gays should have the same rights as all. The US preaches to the world that "all men are created equal" and that we all share the same human and civil rights, but then passes legislation to ban gay marriage and gay adoption. What hypocrisy! I live in North Carolina, the only state in the South that does not have a Constitutional ban on gay marriage, but sadly an Amendment to ban gay marriage will now be on the ballot in November. Our motor vehicle registration plate used to read "First in Freedom", forgetting that this was a slave state and needed a 4-year civil war to change that.
