    Bad and good news update:

    BAD:

Tuesday, my dad has been brought to ER because he had severe pain in his chest area.
This appeared to be caused by a heart lining inflammation.
During the examnations, the amount of white blood corpuscles were way too low so he has been placed in quarantine.
All cancer treatments have been stopped until further notice.

    GOOD:
On the lung photo's there was no cancer visible anymore in his lung.
The tumor on his long pipe was als very much shrinked in size (not completely gone yet, but significally smaller)

    my feeling:

Very worried about the bad part since he really hasn't got much resistance at the moment against other diseases and he sounded like someone who is having a cold, which can't be good and because his white blood corpuscles are still decreasing.

    Will keep you all updated.

Hopefully all goes well man, hopefully the bad is just a minor set back in his recovery.
I don't know, I guess it is normal that I am worried and I should look at the positives with regard to the cancer, but still, it's difficult with all the things that aren't going well, this is the 3rd big set back already, it may end with those set backs.

I know man, you never know in life I guess. Just stay strong, that is so hard to do, it is, but you have to. Cry when you need to and be there every step of the way with him. It is probably silly me saying all this as you are probably already doing it but as insignificant as us cyber people are for you know that we are always here for you bud.

It doesn't sound silly, not at all, it really helps.

I didn't discover this thread until now. Chester, I really hope that your father will be able to recover from this. And as for you, hang in there!

He just called me, in the blood they checked today, the decrease in white blood corpuscles stopped.
If in the next 24hours, they start increasing, he may go home on Sunday and on Monday, the radiaton can start again.

So after a long day of worrying, this is some good news.

    Indeed.

I have to say, going through all of this isn't something you'd wish your worst enemy.

I give the advice to everyone who smokes, stop with it, what we have to go through surely isn't worth what a cigarette offers you, trust me.

    Good news, Ches.

I think not even a single smoker will listen to your advice though. Hell, my grandfather died of cancer more than 10 years ago & even to this day both my parents still smoke. Go figure.

Every time I see this thread I feel like quitting the smokes. Definitely the goal for 2012.
