Share your tactics, squad and transfers
Here we go, it's very similar to your tactic. Though I have also deployed 4-3-1-2 some time, 4-3-3, and even at one point 3-5-2. All the time depending on how the game is going and what players I have available.

So the positions and the instructions are as following...
Sweeper keeper, support. I ask Buffon to pass short and to Bonucci.

Wingback support on the right side, but I frequently change to Fullback support. I ask him to stay wide, shoot less, dribble less, cross from deep, cross to target man, and run wide with ball.

Bonucci is playing as Ballplaying defender and to cover. Asked to shoot less and dribble less.

Chiellini as regular central defender.

Sandro as complete wing back, asked to cross at target man and shoot less.

Marchisio is playing as Defensive midfielder. I ask him to Close down less and shoot less. (I'm still experimenting, what I want is for him to protect defense rather than pressing high up and helping midfielders.)

RCM, is a Central midfielder with Attack on. I want him to shoot less and close down more. I am trying to get him to play like a ball winning player high up the pitch that comes into the box from deep. So far I have played Pereyra in this position but once Khedira is available I expect him to take on this role. I have some times changed this player to play as an Advanced playermaker + Attack

LCM, is a roaming playmaker (Pogba). No restrictions, I want him to freely express himself since he is the core player in this system. I have on some occasions changed him to deep lying playmaker support, if he isn't performing OR we are under pressure.

On the right side (AMR) I wanted to play with an insider forward (support) but Cuadrado didn't really perform as I wanted so I changed him to a Winger, Attack. Only ask him to cross towards target man. As you said, he's wreaking havoc out there!

AML, Dybala. Inside forward support. He can do whatever he wants, and he's brilliant!

Striker, I want to deploy a false nine but so far it hasn't really worked. I am still undecided and frequently change. Mandzukic typically play as a target man (support) but I regularly change him to advanced forward, and sometimes even as false 9. Zaza has done decent as complete forward support. Now Morata is back and he will likely be my main striker. I will probably start him as false 9 or complete forward support, then change during game to advanced forward. Especially if we have a lot of possession.

Team tactics
-Control
-Fluid
-Normal tempo
-Narrow (as narrow as it can be)
-Normal defensive line (might increase it. against really pacey teams I lower it)
-Closing down more
-Prevent GK from short distribution
-Short passing (as "short" as possible)
-Be more expressive
-Run at defence
-Roam from positions
-Play out of defence
-Exploit the middle
-Work ball into box
-Retain possession

I have scored a lot more than expected on set pieces for some reason.
Licht stays back at all times
Sandro stays back if necessary
Pogba attacks from deep
Pereyra lurks outside (will change with someone once Khedira is back)
Marchisio "Go forward"
Mandzukic Challenge keeper
Dybala takes corners
Cuadrado comes short
Chiellini and Bon attacks far and near

In defence besides standard; Mandzu defends zonally six yard near centre; Marchisio & Pogba man marks; Dybala edge of area, Cuadrado stays forward (he's fast and difficult to take the ball from...)

This is my main tactic and I don't think there is anything unique to it. It seems very similar to yours.
Besides this one I let them train on a 4231 wide, where I play with attack and a bit quicker speed and some other small adjustments. Not so much that I use it, but I want the players to be comfortable with the formation (since I want options) and comfortable to play quicker and so on. Likewise with the 4-3-1-2, I only used it once and I have set it a bit different as a starting point (for example it's set with defensive mentality). I only want them to be comfortable with playing defensively. The time I used it I basically played my regular tactic but with a 4-3-1-2 formation, and a bit slower tempo and wider. That time I used Clemenza as my AMC (I wanted to rotate as many starting players as possible since we were playing against Genoa, admittedly away but I don't think one "underperforming player" will have that much affect against lower tier teams.)

Very sorry for extremely long post!

- - - Updated - - -

Sorry, here I am again. I really can't stress that I adapt the tactic depending on opposition team strengths and weaknesses as well as their formation. For example, against a 4-4-2 I do not close down as much, I play wider, and set lichtsteiner to fullback support and then I see what happens. It's not unusual that I change from my 4-1-2-3 to 4-2-3-1, and adjust my CMs, in order to exploit space behind opposition CMs. Against a 4-3-1-2 I regularly try to play with quicker tempo, play more direct, don't ask them to play the ball into box, and attack from the wings, in effort of not giving the opposition time to settle with all their CMs in front of their defense (since it will be difficult to break down, especially from the middle of the pitch). But I keep the structure as it is, especially my Defensive midfielder. I may, however, if my defense is looking shaky, change my Defensive midfielder into an Anchor man, to take away space for their AMC.

Again sorry, just wanted to illustrate...

Oh my god, one more time, SORRY!!!!
I forgot to add transfers...
Predrag Rajkovic will arrive next year for €4.9m (successor to Buffon, I hope)
Cristian Pavon came in for 6.5m (so far only played with u20, I hope to give him time when the timing is right. next year he will change more frequently and grow as backup LAM (inside forward, support).
Emanuel Mammana joined for 5.25m, and was immediately loaned out for a minor fee each month. No room for him atm, will be playing next season.
Nicola Murru was acquired for 11.75m. Panic buy... Only joined because I wanted an Italian backup for Lichtsteiner. Will get another one in the future and use Murru as backup LB.

I sold Caceres for 16m (additionally 2.1m after 10 int. games and 2.1m after 20 league games), Padoin for 2,8m, and Rubinho 86k.

I really don't know why you keep saying sorry, I enjoyed this throughly!

tactics are very similar you're right! also my second and third tactics are the same as yours, but your 4-5-1 beats mine, I don't look at details as much as you do nor study the opposition as much, I'm impressed by the job you're doing!
I went through the exact same with Cuadrado as well, and at first Mandzukic didn't perform as well as I hoped but he gets better in time, Morata is definitely your man though, Zaza can be useful sometimes
When you have Khedeira back he does a much better job than Marchisio in DM, but watch his fitness carefully, Marchisio is great with me in box-to-box or ball winning midfielder roles, Sturaro is a useful sub and has potential. but Lemina and Asamoah are near useless with me, I tried to sell Asamoah but i got too low offers so I kept him for now

I'll scout those kids you're getting next summer and check em out, for now I need a young RB with potential, any suggestions?

I'm playing as Liverpool. Didn't make any transfers during the summer window. I'm in the January window, leading the league by a point. Just bought Ante Coric from Dinamo. I don't make a lot of transfers, usually one big one a summer and then I let my Director of Football do most of the work.

Oh I did sell Lovren to Bayern for 21 million. Forgot about that.

Anybody here seen pictures of Pogba playing FM with him as Chelsea and of course transfering himself to Chelsea?
So he purchased himself in football manager? What's weird about that?

i really hope youre not implying somehow that this is a sign he has real world intentions of leaving....cause for all the ridiculous reasons to come to such a concludsion, and there are many around here, this is easily the dumbest ive heard.

I've did it with Monaco once. Just to see.:D
I used to do that at the start of FM, or in various footy games to see wether madrid or barcelona can buy messi or ronaldo
Or "new manager" teams to check their balance sheets out of interest. Or to see for how much a player would actually sell etc

when i was younger i'd try a quick game with the richest team to get my perfect formation.

Thanks a lot, I started to feel like I was writing a short story about my sad life. So it's reassuring. :)
The further I get along the season, the better I get to know my players and the opposition, the less attention I give to details. Right now it's still early on so I seek to control my own situation as much as possible. In the end, I think I will trust the system I've developed more, and the players to fulfill and excel in their duties. It's like, when uncertainty is great you seek to decrease it by gaining knowledge and control the uncertainty variables. Once uncertainty decrease, i.e. knowledge increase, less control will be given.
How did you manage to play with Mandzukic? He's still vastly underperforming for me, I feel like I am trying everything but still can't find a role for him that suits both him and the team. :( And how did you deploy Zaza? As a false 9 he has been below par for me, as complete forward support he has been at least ok.
Thanks for the tip! I will definitely try switching Marchisio and Khedira!
Asamoah just now came back from injury, I will bring him on in next game, will see how he will do. I might, in worst case, retrain him into a LB.
I agree on Sturaro, looks very interesting and all around! He's a keeper I think, plus he is Italian, which goes a long way in my boat. :)
Lemina is as you say utterly useless. I am still considering to terminate the loan contract (if it is possible), he's only given time when I have no other option. I mean, I would maybe give him some more time if I owned him in order to increase his value or give him experience to improve. But he has no potential, can't really do anything, and is on loan.
I can highly recommend all the signings I made. Last night I moved Pavon to my first team after my youth coaches had convinced me. He's very adaptive, learned Italian very quickly and all attributes has quickly improved despite not given a single minute in the first team.
Murru I will keep because I overspent buuuut... I am like you still searching for a RB. I have been pondering a little bit about buying that Swiss back in Udinese. Seems a bit expensive but has interesting skills. Can't remember the name, Widmer? He's not very young, but not old. I was also considering someone in Ajax I can't remember the name of. Maybe Teteh? Might confuse the name with someone else in the team, but I remember Ajax has an interesting RB. If you find someone, please let me know. I am kind of desperate for a new RB for next season.

sold mandzukic for an additional 30mil. Have so far purchased Alvarez Balanta, Berardi, Vietto, Kovacic, Lucas romero and two south american talents i found through scouting: a SS in Christian Pavon and a LB named Jorge.

Trying to buy Tielemans and Lars bender but those fuckers have no interest in my club :(

    - - - Updated - - -

to be fair Zaza was very effective for me before i sold him so i think the price wasn't too outrageous. I only got rid of him to raise money for some truly World Class talent
I really want Berardi. How much did you have to spend? How has Pavon developed for you? I really liked Lucas Romero in FM15, How is he here?
I also tried for Tielemans but apparently Juve is a futile club compared to superteam Anderlecht...

I know what you mean, I take FM a little too seriously too, more than I should

Well as for Mandzu he's terrible alone in 4-5-1 in every role i tried, but when I play with a diamond 4-1-2-1-2 (counter) I use him as a target man beside dybala or morata (advanced forward) and he does well, one game i beat Roma like this 4-0 morata hattrick and mandzukic 1 goal 1 assist.

Honestly Pavon is the only one of them who interested me, i might sign him in the summer window. I made a mistake in January and bought lucas lima.. Terrible player, even more useless than hernanes.

We're all searching for the dream RB it seems lol, will let you know if i find him

    - - - Updated - - -

Oh and Sassuola fuckers played me, Berardi was almost done for 17 and possibly 10 in bonuses, then the last bid and all the other bids got rejected, man city and chelsea joined the race. And i ended up paying 45m (15 cash, 30 on 48 months) plus 10m in possible bonuses. But its fine by me, i really wanted him and he wanted juve

That's really good to know! I might then maybe use the 4-3-1-2 or 4-1-2-1-2 in more games, especially if I am rotating a lot of players. Worst case scenario I sell him next summer since I am stocked up on a lot of strikers anyhow and need room for Pavon.

:D then I won't go for lima, hope you didn't have to spend too much! I remember in the last FM I spent so much to get some Belgian right winger, like £20m (can't remember, but it was waaay too much). He looked promising and my scouts loved him. He didn't develop at all and two years later after playing like 20 games each season playing as good as chelsea I sold him for like £500k...

Hernanes has actually been very successful in my team, I am actually considering to test him in my starting 11. He bangs in long distance shots like there's no tomorrow.

Yeah it's frustrating. I always used to get Nyom, De Sciglio, that Barca guy in Inter now, Clyne, Darmian or Santon, but now I am lost. Those used to be my safe cards but do not seem feasible anymore. Nyom I haven't looked at yet but I suspect he's not that good since his form IRL has been poor (as far as I know). I think Brescia (I can check when I get home) has a RB that I have been scouting for two months. My scouts don't like him but he seems somewhat promising to me. Maybe I am wrong. :boh: I usually try to go as domestic as I find reasonable with whatever team I play with, so I would prefer to have some Italian guy.

Edit: That's good to know too. I will pay whatever they want and won't feel I pay too overprice then. :)

    Hi
Just got the game (bought it for 10GBP from someone who wanted some off line partners...)
I am looking for 3 positions: AM (advanced playmaker) ST (target man) and CM/DM (a box to box or an advance playmaker preferably the latter)
I just started and already sold Caceres and Padoin so 17M+5M+20M budget = 42M available
AM is my first thing I`m looking for
    CM is the second thing
ST if can get this too would be great

Any suggestions from the ones who already started playing?
a late afterthought. How about Bruno Fernandes in Udinese? I like him IRL and just spotted him (I am about to play Udinese), he looks extremely good. I might actually go for him myself! Still young too with a lot of promise.

The players valuation are way off reality.

Dortmund rejects my bid of 60m pounds for 18 year old Felix Passlack.

And I sold Pereyra to Dortmund for 43m pounds.

I have 163m transfer kitty, yet I'm struggling to buy quality ready made players.

My current players in 3rd season.

Nice team! And those rejected bid are hilarious! :D

How good is coric, lozano, ajer, fossum, jorge, and those other younger players I am not familiar with?
Also, we are desperate here for young RBs that turns out great. Players that won't cost two transfer budgets, like Bellarin... :p since you're so far in the game maybe you can have some suggestions? *wink wink*

I used to get Bellerin or Corchia in previous versions, but this year Corchia isnt that good and I might just give up and make a crazy bid for Bellerin, I still cant find a good kid for RB

Ramin is right, money is insane in this game, bids are waaay off reality, I got 60m bid for Bonucci and a 24M for Barzagli.. seriously?! I refused both anyway and now I wish I had accepted them

i'm about to finish my first season and get ready for a very busy summer, in transfers, coaching staff, training and scouting.

I signed Vrsaljko as a Licht back up, he's not that good but he'll do for now.. ans for too little money, 5M or something like that

best RBs I came across are Bellerin and Marquinhos, but I dont want to spend that much for a RB, I am trying for Romagnoli in CB to be Rugani's buddy but Milan are being too tough and it wont be for less than 60M it seems,
I also found a deal for Cuadrado, greedy sob, but he was fantastic all season and I need him, sealed Berardi's deal too, sold Asamoah, and now I'm desperate for Verratti, but he doesn't want Juve..

Won the treble first season, in first knock out round beat Real 2-0 and lost 2-1, then Bayern 2-0 and lost 1-3 :D , then Barca 4-4 away and 1-1 home haha, but I raped Man Utd 3-0 in the final, had cuadrado and pereyra injured from January till 2 weeks before the final, but in the final they were beasts.

    - - - Updated - - -

Very excited now to start a 2nd season with Dybala, Coman, Berardi, Morata, Cuadrado and Pogba. I might get them a Trequartista too

I'm gonna start a season now with Juve 3-5-2 tactic, wish me luck. Played couple months with Arsenal game first and got bored (bought Pogba for 104m lol).
