Badass has a point about drogba and llorente. If we get llorente... we will go full on him and he WILL be the promised top striker. We will be stuck wioth him for the next 3 years or so.... and in case we would like to buy someone else in case of him failing... it would be tough.


On the otehr hand..... Drogba is in his last year maybe of football... but like all the greats, he has class in him and is not like he suddenly turned into crap by playing in china. We can use him as a band aid (a luxury band aid i would say), to carry us thru the rest of the CL campaign.... and then buy a real long term solution by the end of the season.

Llorente does not need to be the second coming of jesus. Nor is he going to be bought solely for his goal scoring prowess. Our team is able to reach the attack quicky, directly and from any position. What better to have than a giant who can controll the ball more than adequately on the receiving end?

take a look at some other strikers:

tevez in 10/11: 25 goals and 13 assists in 3961 minutes
dzeko in 11/12: 20 goals and 10 assists in 2942 minutes

lewandowski in 11/12: 35 goals and 13 assists in 4794 minutes

cardozo in 11/12: 29 goals and 7 assists in 3749 minutes
soldado in 10/11: 25 goals and 4 assists in 2975 minutes

all these players have had a year or more in where they scored goals and assisted goals once in the 100 minutes... llorente is far away from that...

in my opinion he isn't worth 5 million a freaking season... i'd rather give drogba 2.5 million for the next half year and break the bank for lets say dzeko in the summer...

because he was facing the defenders in la liga... i think even amauri would look good with the defenders of getafe or granada around him...

But I'd like to think you can get that type of player for half those (rumoured) wages. If you're going to sign someone who'll be earning substantially more than Buffon & Pirlo, I'd expect that player to be truly excellent.

Exactly. To be this consistent with a team like Athletic Bilbao over the years is quite an achievement really.

Llorente is a quality bargain.

It depends who else is available for that much money. But of course they scored more since they had Silva and others behind them.

I always hear about horrible defense in La Liga, but every year I see them reaches semis and finals in CL and EL, even 3 out of 4 teams.

I'm just asking questions to understand why everyone would love llorente in juventus... he is a spanish striker who would have to come to italy and immediately succeed.. I just don't see that happening and I'm affraid we would have another amauri in our squad (get some time... won't score... dissapears on the bench because some other striker does score... and have a huge wage bill because he "couldn't addapt to italian football") if you catch my drift

I've seen Llorente play plenty of times and this is my take on him.

He'll be a very good signing for this team, the salary that is required is maybe high but you gain on the transfer fee because his contract is soon ending, that's a plus.
He's a very good goal scorer, incredible with his head, he'll come handfull because he's accustomed to playing with back to the goal and his good at it. He's quite technical despite his frame, can cantrol the ball and pass with both feet and play those one touch passes that we all hope Matri would've been able to play. His movemenet off the ball isn't as good as Matri because he always plays with his back to the goal and only start running toward the goals when the ball is at the wings.
He's not the top player we all hope we sign, the one who could receive the ball at the top of the box and produce magic like Zlatan, Aguero, Benzema or Falcao but he's a good goal scorer and we desperately need that.
My last point is that i think that Llorente would work better in a 4-3-3.
