Its incredible to read suggestions of our team not lacking much when Melo is suspended...its as if they have been watching a completely different team to me all this season. He is a lynchpin of all our better, stronger performances. He allows Aquilani to create, by shielding him, and also giving aqui a safe option to pass to and play off. he screens the defence, helps out our right flank allowing krasic to bomb forward...without him, with either marchisio or momo in his place, our midfield is horrible. The connection between defence and attack is almost solely long balls. Gaps appear on the right flank.

Other than that costly red card against parma, he has been our most consistent solid midfielder.

Marchisio lacks both the passing and tackling skills, as well as the physical strength. Momo is perhaps calmer, but also far weaker technically...you see this so clearly when he plays with aqui. We have only ONE player in the middle who can pass, so mark aqui, and completely cut off the supply to our forwards.

Of course we are missing quags also, but melo seems much more important for this team, as our midfield is the only section of defence/offence/midfield which when fit and healthy, often looks like one of the best in the league. take melo out of the midfield, and we look more like brescia...

I couldn't say it better. It appears that his terrible last season is still alive. Melo is a completely different player this season.

I like Sissoko, his first season was amazing, but now... He serious lack passing and isn't complete like Melo. No way he can replace him today.

But we are not talking about quag are we? but i agree quag made a big difference.

And so has melo,m surprised u dont see it.
Judging by the reactions, it must be me.

Has/had Melo been our best & most consistent midfielder: Yes, absolutely.

Have we felt his absence? Not in the slightest.

The Napoli game was a disaster anyhow, we missed the entire team that evening, not one player.
In the Bari game the midfield was ours. Other parts of the team messed up at times, don't see how Melo could or would have changed that.
While in the Samp game we had trouble creating, but we did have a pretty tidy game in (center) midfield.

Melo has been by far our best and most consistent midfielder this season, there's no question that if he didn't get suspended against Parma we prob wouldn't have copped the thrashing we did against Parma and Napoli. He's been solid as a rock.

Buck, Im not saying he is/was more important to the team than Quags, but we have definitely missed him.

Aah yes, I did not take the Parma game itself into account, since he was "available" for that game. Losing him obviously did have an impact on that game, but that was sheer stupidity. One could argue that playing him in that game actually hurt us, instead of benefitting us.

Whatever juve achieved this season was because of our midfield, quag was never a world class striker and never will be.

Melo and aqua made the best midfield in serie A,of all the matches i have watched we havent lost a single one when aqua-melo were on form and in those matches the form of other players did not matter coz these two made a huge difference.

I agree with someone on this page who said if one thinks melo is not a big difference is not really watching the matches.

Welcome back melo,do not fuck it up.

Im not talking shit about quag,we have an average squad and we managed to extract the fullest when everyone was healthy.

Quag is a good player, very good in fact,is he world class? No?

When someone calls amauri a bitch its no shame even if he's a juve player, when fans call motta a "sucker" its not a shame.

Dzeko is world class, zidane was and messi is.

Quag is a very good striker that did more than anyone expected of him, that it.

Zidane was Zeus. Messi is God. Quag is a world class striker.
