Yeah it has changed domestically, but away from home they're the same pussies. Thats how Sweden fucked Italy too.
Settling for a minimal loss/draw, match fitness myth before a fuckin CL final at then end of a long season ffs, waiting for the opponent, blaming luck/refs, "experience" over actual merit, grinta over brains, unnecessary rotation every fuckin game which results in misunderstanding during games, unfit players with shit stamina everywhere, so on so on.
All this bullshit toxic Calcio archaisms need to go already. Everyone has long moved on.
This stereotype has held on far longer than the reality. What's surprising is that it comes from someone who watches Italian football.
You're basically describing Juve out of frustration, not any other teams like Roma, Napoli or Atalanta from recent seasons. If you watched how Milan played against Man Utd away just yesterday it's obvious that this stereotype is dated. Coaches from the traditional Italian school might be more cautious, and that includes ones like Benitez or Mourinho, but it's increasingly common for progressive coaches to take charge. The obsession with tactics will remain for some time but tactics does not equate to defensive, it means control of the game in all phases. If anything, we have suffered precisely because Pirlo is this kind of modern progressive coach, and lacks the experience to know the limitations of his team and how to protect the defenders.
Sure, Juve are the only club/fans who complain about luck, refs or rest players. Fitness is also not important, players are robots...come off it.
Juve's mentality is what it is. Someone like Sacchi hates on us because we've never played the attacking football he played 30 years ago, but we've almost always been a moderately conservative team with strong players in all areas of the pitch who could control games. We've challenged when we've had a strong team, which is common sense, but we haven't had a strong team for a few years now. And we do need to shift our mentality more towards winning away games. A 1-1 is seen as a great result, but you can't play for a 1-1, and if you play for a 0-0 then you're likely to lose by one or two goals, and then the second leg becomes a lottery.
