We have been trying the so called "immediate success policy" for the past three years now... IT'S NOT WORKING.
As opposed to the wait 3 yrs for success? Every player a team gets is with hope that that player will bring immediate success. I think you meant to say freebie players for immediate sucess, that would make more sense.

What I meant, we have been deploying this strategy of signing players to achieve immediate success without a real long term plan (opposite to public declaration) with no luck for three years now, time to end this shortsighted planning.

And Vierchowod was not of Cannavaro's class...Also...look at Giggsy. Player of the year yet 36 and occupying a role which demands stamina and pace...
yes but SAF is at least smart enough to rotate him frequently & knows WHEN to play him and when to rest him to get the most from him. the nedved sitaution has proven ranieri does not have the ability/commonsense to adopt such a policy

All things considered, Cannavaro is the safest choice if you want immediate success.

Precisely!!! If we once again sacrifice the development of our club and sign Cassano and Canna, instead of two starters. Then what will happen if we win nothing again next year???

It will be a double failure once again, just like it has been this year.
We didnt found any permanent fixes for the problems we had for the past 3 years
and we chose quality over quantity, quick fixes and depth instead competitiveness...

What this tactic has won so far?? NOTHING!!!
What would be the possible benefits of following the same tactics next year then???
We wasting one more year for nothing, instead try to build smth and have some realistic chances in the future???

if it means directing funds to buying real quality elsewhere, then yes, and not on players like quagliarella and ledesma. The argument for cannavaro is that he isnt prone to injuries as much as agger, and is willing to take a pay cut, whilst agger is likely to be looking for the same or more, and can offer his experience to younger lads, which again agger cant. Defensively canna has improved tremendously under Juande Ramos so i have confidence the ability is still there.
I really don't understand this statement many of you are using. Did you conclude that by watching games or by looking at Real Madrid's stats?

Canna hasn't been anything special under Juande Ramos, not at all. He's just not exposed like he used to be under Schuster. Mainly due to the fact that Ramos has two DM's playing ahead of him as opposed to the lone destroyer Schuster used to deploy. Gago and Diarra have formed a solid partnership and teams are finding it more difficult to get past Real's midfield. So basically he's just getting more protection and less exposure, if you think he just magically got his form back, then maybe me and you are watching different games.

Yeah but they never actually said when the clock starting ticking.

Actually i remember when Ranieri was signed after the Deschamps debacle the board said at that point that they will be adopting a five year project. Ranieri spoke about a five year project a lot during his first few days in Turin so i guess we are now getting ready to start year 3

your mistake is to even pay attention to what that clown says or thinks, a player improving at the tender age of 35

N.B: gago is no destroyer more of a pirlo

Yes he isn't a destroyer, but he's a player that stays back almost at all times, that offers an extra man at the back which means more protection for the defenders. But i would say he is a better tackler than Pirlo, even though i do agree they are the same type.
