It's not like Canna or the mercato is over, but i see it as a good deal. By expierenced defender i mean guy who has played over 120 times for Azurri and still is the captain of the team, capable of leading the best defence in the world. And we don't have that "little" cash to spend on such CB you described, we won't buy starting defender for 3 or 5 millions.
Nobody gives a crap whether Cannavaro is the captain of the Azzurri, or captain of Bald-Headed Has-Beens United. Fact is, he's been poor during the past three years at Real Madrid, and along with his age is justification enough that we shouldn't be wasting time with his ass.

i don't watch la liga week in week out, but i don't think that he would be starting three years in a row under four (?) different coaches, if he would've been piss pour, as the squad of Madrid ain't small. he may have had his fair shair of mistakes, but everyone still trusts him, from Madrid bosses to Italy bosses. Too bad that the fans can't accept his importance to both of the squads.

You have a good point there. I'm not involved in these discussions about Cannavaro because i rarely watch Madrid. But it's still strange that a team that spent €27 million on Ramos and €30 million on Pepe would keep Cannavaro if Canna is so awful.
They are filthy rich, they'd have replaced him 10 times by now if he was that bad as people say.

He's most probably far from the ballon d'or Cannavaro, but i have a feeling that some exaggerate when talking about his awful form.

Still, it will be really sad if Cannavaro will be our main defensive reinforcement. We need much more than him.

So you are seriously comparing Maldini to Cannavaro? That's like comparing Maldini four seasons ago with Maldini nowadays.
You very well know what my point was, Cannavaro is captain for Azurri (of course if you know what the word from your username means) now, and he still is the leader under a great coach Lippi in Italy NT now, like it or not. This was my logic and don't try to hide your fail under captious posts, while you still haven't responded to main argument. Another post of how we should sign every single veteran defender out there, and you are joining my ignore list, as it is more worth to discuss football with my dog than you right now. Just informing. ;)

How many center backs does Real have?

With Fabio Cannelloni marshalling our defence, opposing strikers will be hungry for goals against us. We are going to be al over the place, like melted mozzarella cheese, and our lack of pace in central defence will become even more evident.

Do you guys really believe he will come to Juve in a World Cup year, and accept a bench or backup role? Hell no! Hence, Ranieri will gladly or forcibly (whichever way u wish to look at it, and assuming the stinkerman is still here) play him, and we will be left ruing missing out on better and more useful prospects, who can actually contribute more in the long term.

As regards the minor issue of his unceremonious departure, well that's another story for another day.

i watched some games under schuster and as far as i can say this hole defence was a joke. canna didn't even have his positioning anymore. but come on pepe 30 mil? this guy is really no good defender.
i think canna would do well here. la liga just don't suit him and thats a fact. he can not compete with the pace and less tactics. but i just don't want hím here. for me he is a betraytor. juve made him big he was a joke at inter and he left us in our darkest moment. screw him

WHO DOES THAT LEAVE IN THE CENTER?!?!?!

Exactly, he has to play.
Great point. Cannavaro has to play in center even if he is disaster because there are no fullbacks at RM (or the ones must be even bigger disaster than Canna..), who could replace one of Heinze or Ramos and move them to center. And Real Madrid are so close to bankrupcy, that every single new coach had to accept the fact, that german nurse lover is the only available central defence back-up. If Pepe is suspended or Cannavaro injured, than Madrid do not even travel to game place. That's one big bullshit.

That's the thing. Real Madrid have been switching coaches faster than Paco can say Swine Flu while licking the railings of his Mexico City subway car. There is probably TOO MUCH emphasis put into Cannavaro's reputation that it takes a while for people to realize he's now a bane to a defense.

But as you said yourself, you don't watch La Liga too much.

Sergio Ramos usually plays RB, Pepe also plays in the center, Metzelder doesn't play too much, and Heinze plays more out left.

Valdes has been starting five years for Barca. Surely he's a world class keeper :agree:
