Its not that (several of them 23, and the rest 22 like him except Balo, Paloschi and Poli), its something else we dont know really, he has been one and off in the Azzurrini last 2 years despite being clearly one of the better talents, Casiraghi has some qualms with him. Didnt have a good season, but is better then Rannocchia and Andreolli. As I said, its something else.

Its something else then compentence as I said, because he was as overlooked when he had a very good season last year, to the average one this past season. As I said, players not as good as him gets picked, despite his ill displine, its still weird.

And no clip so far in this thread, rare for defender, but here is that impressive performance against us in the start of last season:

Santacroce started off the game looking like a bit of Paolo Montero with his inciting and off the ball nonsense but then he settled down and looked inspired. He showed great strength and pace, but perhaps even more impressive for me was his tackling.

If he can deliver performances like that consistently, he could well, along with Chiellini, ensure that for the next decade or so have world class CBs.

He can play right/center back (Mellberg type).
If anyone plays like Montero, he should be signed as far as I'm concerned. An important part of an Italian CL Winning team is a team that makes the opposing team shit bricks.

In short, I'd love this guy in Juve

Santacroce is class. He would be a great buy. I dont think he would be effective as a RB in a 433 cuz he is not offensive. He is just a CB who is plays well on the right as well as in the center...

If we got him he would be in competition with Cannavaro to start and if not a starter this season I would expect him to start next season.
