I dont think theres any room for debate that de Bruyne is among the very top mids in Europe. A lot of people would even say hes nr1. And he did have good euros, of course Belgium didnt get very far, but they went out to champions.
De Bruyne was 'fit' for 1,5 game. He did very well considering, but I don't think he can make team of the tournament.

Basically a placebo, isn't it?
It's easy to see why it would help.

I think the Vialli thing is more a ritual than a superstition. Rituals can be important to get in the right mindset. Most, if not all, athletes have them. Hell, I even have certain rituals I do before pleading in court. It helps you focus.

Italians and weird superstitions! And they always seem to work :howler:
I watched the game with my father in law. Before the game he wanted to give me a Euro ‘68 polo, it was kinda cool but I never wear any football related stuff during the games, it brings bad luck. So we were in some restaurant, and he got sick during the game. Unfortunately he’s been having health problems in recent months. He ended up going to bed and not seeing the end of the match. Next morning I told him he had to listen to me.

Btw I wish it worked during the CL finals.

Theres a thin line between the two but in my opinion, A ritual is simply a repeated action done consistently, while a superstition carries a belief that external forces out of ones control will impact if the ritual isnt done. I think those that do rituals and not superstitious ones know that they are fully in control of all matters and just focus on that alone, disregarding anything external either consciously or sub-consciously.

It does give a greater peace of mind for some. Hope your father in law enjoyed the news, I wish him a long life full of good health.

Thanks. He lost about 12kg during the last 3 months, but gained 3 after things started to go a bit better in recent weeks. Fortunately it isn’t cancer, has been having stomach ulcers combined with severe stress.
