It's not that hard to stop players if you are willing to go with a very negative mindset and purely focus on defending.

The real test will come in the second game where Chelsea still have to stop Barca, but also have to carry some sort of goal threat themselves.

It's still hard against a team like Barca in a horrendous stadium such as Nou Camp. It was very hard for Bayern a few weeks back and it was hard for almost every team this season.

Barça 4 - Chelsea 1
Ouch, that was close

I'm sure 90% of the teams that played Barcelona in the last 8 months tried to play negative football, but no-one else managed to keep Barcelona at zero.

Credit to Chelsea.

Its actually the first time this season that an opposition team has held a clean sheet at the Camp Nou.

I still think Barca will triumph.
i just came home from a pub where i saw the match...i think that too...it's impossible for barca to not score in 2 matches..so a goal and a good possesion will send blaugrana in the final. Now i wish you team all the best fred, cuz i would be sooooo happy if manure won't reach teh final :weee:

Of course it is tough to stop Barca (impossible for most teams), but for a team like Chelsea, who have top class defenders, it isn't that hard to limit Barca's chances.

Keep in mind that Barca still made three or four clear chances.

I'll be very interested to see how the second leg goes if Chelsea open up a bit to try and get a goal.

I still think Barca will go through. If not, it will be a shame for football.

Barca's inability to score cannot be accredited to Chelsea's defense but rather Barca's poor finishing. Superior "English" football my ass; sell that shit to the Chinese...oh wait they already pfft.
Yeah, seriously. And great English defending over the weekend, truly fantastic.

The refereeing was a bit suspect as well.
Indeed.

If Barca cannot adjust to Chelsea's defense at home, how are they going to do it at the Bridge?

Looks like another all English final. Mr. Messi let everyone down.

That penalty call was never a penalty.
Ballack should have recieved a second yellow though. I also expected Puyol to get a second yellow for a foul over Malouda, but for some reason (i didn't see what was the reason, so maybe it was justified) the ref gave a foul for Barcelona.
