Liverpool are not more of a brand than Chelsea or Manchester, hell they aren't more of a brand than Real Madrid or Barcelona. You won't believe the the number of blue jerseys I've seen in the last few weeks. You're being over the top on that one. Though I agree ownership has been pushing us to become a Manchester or Real.

If things go bad enough, Rafa probably won't make it past Boxing Day. The question is since Rafa's tenure is probably at the end after this season at the latest. Who's the next coach? Sammy Lee is our assistant and if he takes over, you might as well regulate us now. I really can't think of anyone right now.

Truth is we should have signed Stewart Downing or David Bentley. Hell probably should have dropped the 20 mil on Barry. Good teams only really need two creators. Juve has Camo and Del Piero. Milan Kaka and Seedorf. Barca Messi and Xavi. Hell Man U only has Ronaldo and Evra. Gerrard and Torres should be enough for us, with proper support.

If we actually sign Riera as rumored I won't be pleased at all.
Although i can see Pool doing better in the EPL, i see two reasons that it wouldnt matter.
I am not sure about the new owners willing to spent as much as Manure and Chel$ki, but it is really hard, nearly impossible, to build a team, with the same depth and world class % of players, if you dont invest more or the same.
Pool's type of players favors cap type of competitions and they naturally turned their attention/focus there. You have to be pleased by the performances, Pool had, in the CL.

The increase of investment is not Rafa's choice and a new coach woulsnt change that.
Rafa can as well make a team to challenge for the championship, but he feels he has less chances there and you would disappoint you, if the team was worthless in Europe, there lies Pools power, the fans, the glory, the sponsors are all fed by those success, should he risk to lose them for a faint hope of a domestic title?
And what makes you think that you can find a coach as good as him?
Even nearly as good as him?

Well I guess I've told this before, but it all goes back to the 98' World Cup. I was 14 and it was probably the first time I was watching football and could actually understand what was going on. Saw Owen's goal. As a 14 year old watching an 18 year old score in the world cup, I was pretty excited. Back then we had Fox Sports World and they had a wrap up show and replay games on sundays, I watched that and watched Pool whenever I could. Over the years the interest grew and one day I decided they were my team. I enjoyed their style, attitude, the sound of the fans, back then I didn't really understand the magnitude of the Champions League or the Premiership, but enjoyed watching football and having a team to cheer for. Heck I didn't even know about Heysel until about 2002. That was my first year of college and I was able to watch matches in real time when I wasn't in class. Now it's 2008 and I've been following Liverpool for 10 years now. I guess if was basically a case of first come first serve.

When you ask me what I see in Liverpool. It's almost a rhetorical question because for me its a matter of what don't I see? I've seen some of the craziest comebacks in history. Down 3-0 to Milan and coming back to win the game on penalties on nothing but a lot of grit, heart, and a little bit of luck. I've also seen some of the worst performances by the team. I've seen great players come through and terrible players come through. But I still like 'em and I probably always will. I don't know if I would watch European football if I didn't like Liverpool, aside from the occasional US game.

I don't know if I've answered your question as well as you would have liked. I don't know if the question can be answered. It's kind of like asking some guy who's been married a long what he sees in his wife. There really is no answer, it's just a whole bunch of small things that make up the whole.

That's a good point.

any players in Galatasaray worth looking at? Arda is pretty special, anybody else though? They took a pretty heavy blow by not getting to the CL this year, maybe there will be some sort of clear-out...
They have a very good team, but only Arda would fit with Juve, and maybe Sabri on Juve's bench.

The new manager they hired just sucks, the idiot tried to change everything, I mean the system. he should have kept that, the league winning system. Wasn't surprise at all, he didn't prepare the team well. Poor them, this just cost Millions..

two 0-0 bores followed by a win in penalty kicks where pool's golie doesn't stay on his line ;)
No goalie stays on his line during a PK. Only goalies that don't want to be heroes stay on their lines.:D

Especially with that new fangled start-stop bull shit guys are doing now.

Yeah you did. Just curiosity I guess. Like you say there's no real reason, although some people wanna tell you they have really good reasons.

Always disliked them a lot myself, don't know why.

I really fuckin' hate that...refs should cut that out...the PK should be done in one smooth run-up, not the athritis-ridden jig the players do these days...fuck Figo (1st guy I ever saw do it atleast) for starting that crap

Or at least allow goal keepers to come off their lines before the ball is struck.

don't most GKs already do like a little hop/skip forward just before the guy kicks the ball?
Oh yeah sure, they actually teach you that when you're little. But I mean run off the line and tackle the ball before the shot. That would speed things up.

lol, that would then have to be a pretty good PK to score...right in the corner pockets....and it would completely banish the Totti scoop as an option

How does it feel that we are discussing Juventus in this thread?

Frankly, I am considering not going to work today.
