It's because they still have some doubts about it, unlike the completely unscrupulous tanned people. So they want to harvest that into an image of integrity, but it's obviously bound to fail.

"Well you know we have to play the game thrown at us, but it don't feel quite right. If only the Italians would stop cheating so much they'd do everyone a favor and we'd be back to our noble game."

:D

but as I pointed out, gerrard didn't actually dive. there was no way he wasn't going to fall on the ground after going up for the ball and getting bumped. shouldn't have been a penalty, gerrard did exaggerate (but frankly, as much as everyone is saying) but technically, it wasn't a dive

But Rafa said it was correct pk :D

And he still dived, like all of England, he likes to preach like he is a saint, of how he is above diving, while being a consistent diver. But no one talks about it in England because God forbid they werent just like everyone else, and not morally superior as they like to pretend they are.
Exactly. Screw Gerrard.

In that case. Cheating is part of the game. We've all seen similar plays go uncalled probably hundreds of them in our lifetimes. Yet no one makes a big deal unless it gains a call in the box. No one cares if it gets a free kick or an unwarranted corner. Those are all ok. When it warrants a penalty, everyone goes nuts. And to top it, it is completely the fault of the player not the referee who called it. Perhaps football is a dirty sport.

Or maybe it's that whenever something like this happens in Serie A it's do to bad reffing. How many threads do we have on the subject? There are oodles of evidence.

Yet if an EPL player benefits from a bad call, he's automatically a terrible person. Sounds a bit biased to me.

So Rafa should say to the press. "oh man they should just give the win to Madrid". Are you kidding me? You know better than that.

No I get it. This bias that the English have against the rest of the footballing world is the same the rest of the world have toward them.
I wouldn't say "the same", perhaps "parallel". It's about making pretenses of being above it all, no we don't do that stuff, we have our values. Which they can't uphold and it just becomes increasingly pathetic to say one thing and witness another.

Gerrard is the man guys, shit happens, he has to deliver for his team and fans... Nedved has done this for us as well, we didn't blame him.

I don't know. There is a bit of truth to the stereotype. Even though there are dives in the EPL, there are a bit less than the other leagues. Maybe that's do to the style of the league or whatever. The truth is that it happens all over the place.

But to crucify someone for trying to score a goal in the waning minutes of the match is ridiculous. It's not like he dribbled up to someone and pretended to be shot in the back. Gerrard ran full speed into a challenge, like he does all the time, and he actually made contact with the ball. Pernia made contact with Gerrard and considering Gerrard was out of control and moving at full speed he was sprawled across the pitch. And on top of that people are feeling sorry for a Madrid team that had less than a third of the possession on the night and was damn lucky our forwards couldn't finish? That's b/s.

PS. Obama just won.

Gerrard's English. That makes him evil.

Gerrard's English. That makes him evil.
He's not evil, he's just your regular footballer, who has a lot of pressure and responsibly to deliver for his team as a captain.

The English commentators, football experts and yes EPL fans who think their players are saints and unique in their nobleness are the ones who's evil.

Everyone dives this day and age... but if you say things like this
"I hope he comes out and says he made a mistake because, as players, when we make mistakes we come out and say so".
-Steven Gerrard

"I don't think there's anything worse than a player diving when no one's near him. It does ruin the game".
-Steven Gerrard

"Players like Carvalho and Ronaldo are damaging football...".
-Steven Gerrard

"If I saw a team-mate doing it (diving), I'd definitely have a word".
-Steven Gerrard
and still dive, its ridiculous... nobody dives and then accepts it... i get that... but if you dive, you don't make statements like the ones Gerrard has made (in the past)...

what he did yesterday, anyone would have done for their team... its wrong, but it happens a lot and Gerrard can't be blamed for that... the Ref should be...

and E, when you watch a match with English commentators, you can feel the obvious bias towards the English... the bias shown here against the English is because they always claim to play clean football when they do not...

anyone seen this?

Well they are English. That's why I try to watch my Pool matches in a language I don't know.

Once in a while it won't hurt if they praise the opposing team... sometimes it gets so ridiculous that i prefer to watch the game with the volume muted... maybe the spanish and italians do the same, but i don't know about it coz i don't understand either language...
and i guess the commentators are paid bonus whenever they say the statement,"Thats why the Premier League is the best league in the world" because they say it at least 10 times in a match...
