Rijkaard disagrees with Capello's bar on Beckham

MADRID, Jan 16 (Reuters) - Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard said he did not agree with Fabio Capello's policy of barring David Beckham from playing for Real Madrid after the midfielder decided to leave the club for LA Galaxy.
'In theory I wouldn't sideline the player,' Rijkaard was reported as saying in daily Sport on Tuesday. 'You always have to look to the interests of the team.

'Everyone wants to win things and if a player has a contract he can still keep on working.'

Rijkaard was in a similar position to Capello when Swede Henrik Larsson agreed a move to home town club Helsingborg in February last year.

Despite the striker announcing the move and donning his new team's shirt, Larsson continued to feature regularly at Barcelona and played a decisive role in their victory over Arsenal in the Champions League final.

Rijkaard has used striker Javier Saviola despite the fact the club has been anxious to offload the Argentine on several occasions.

With Beckham, Ronaldo and Antonio Cassano all sidelined by Capello and Raul, Emerson, Guti, Roberto Carlos and Marcelo injured, the Italian may have to use several reserves for the King's Cup last 16 second leg tie with Real Betis on Thursday.

i was really disapointed with capello's decision, not that i give a damn much, still it was a awfull call. if i was becks and if half of the first team's midfield go injuired i'd refuse to play just to spite him.

hes trying something new and cleaning up the squad especially from the big names that grab the spotlight which isn't always needed. Also those 3(becks,ronaldo,cassano) although could be very good players, but they r trouble makers more. And cause disturbances amongst the squad even if they accept sitting on the bench

Pandiani is at Espanyol now. He played against Barça last sunday(?) and he almost scored two goals, he did a good match.

How is Beckham a trouble maker? All he did was sign a contract with another team (which is not againt the law). Crappello is being a fuckin dickhead that he is and would't change his mind. I get the feeling that he's the type of guy who thinks thats he's right no matter what, and other people are wrong. These type of people should be fuckin burned alive.

Saviola scored 3 goals in 3-2 win against alavez , he scored 6 goals in 3 games , Rijkaard please wake up.
thats true m_elyaan, its obvious now that saviola is the answer to barca. i think its a bit too late now as ive heard that etoo is almost back in action soon, so i guess we will be seeing saviola and gud johensen warming the bench sooner or later.

i didnt say a trouble maker, i said its someone that brings some unnecessary spotlight to the team.Sometimes its better for the whole team to work with nobody focusing on it as its already a huge club.

capello is a dictator but i think its a good move.
