Regardless of whether we get these 2 players or not; One can't help but wonder what our italian rivals feel when they pick up this paper, lol. As they are getting ready for a long summer to do deals (awww) in order to :gsol: close the gap :gsol: on Juve. We're just miles ahead of everyone else in Italy, and it's giving me a huge boner right now. Thinking back to dem Calciopoli days when they thought we were down and out, and now this crushing domination by us. We're operating on a whole 'nother level.

hail :beppe:

You'll probably see a couple of old anti-Juventini in the morning chocking on their coffee at the bar when they read it.

Alves deal seems pretty imminent. I don't have too high hopes for landing Mascherano, though, as Barca do not want to sell.

Alves to Juve be on da frontpage of both Marca and AS now, yo

So one legend in the bag.. another legend possibly on his way. This is amazing news. Just like that out of nowhere the Caudrado hole has been filled by none other than Dani fucking alves and for fucking free :beppe: :delpiero:

Get mascherano signed up and our squad at the end of the summer would take a leap in quality regardless of whether its Gomes or Pjanic that we sign for the future (hopefully miralem). Pogba, Marchisio, Mascherano, Khedira, Pjanic oh my god.

 dani alves right, we are replacing a 32 years old lichtsteiner with an even older dani alves :sergio: I don't even like if we resorted to a 31 years old mascherano if he couldn't play in 2 positions.

Alves is a great signing if true. We would have great depth on full backs / wing backs. This may mean that Marotta doesn't fight the Cuadrado departure.

Mascherano is unlikely in my view given Barca don't want to sell. However, if we pulled that off and got Pjanic - man that would be sex. Mascherano is not only great but highly versatile as he can play in defence if needed - Evra also falls into that camp too.

Dani Alves is a short term signing to push for the CL. He's still top class and we will replace him with someone younger in a couple of years.

Name me an available younger RB that is half as good as him.

Please quit calling that mental midget a legend. And he isn't that good anymore, but with our fitness program, we might get a couple of good years out of him. Probably will. Good RWB and RB alternatives (Cuadrado and Caceres replacements in those positions) if he passes the personality test and is willing to work hard.

33 years old dany alves won't add much to this team unless he's free; however seeing as how near future transfer market looks like with the inflation, we would take even bigger risk in middle term if we have such 2 oldies on our right flank, in 2018 we would have to get a new keeper, a new cb, a whole new rb and his sub and that's still not counting yet another cm replacement and possible pogba departure... We can't rusk such short term investment.

Agree, but Götze is no CM he is an offensive player best used in the final 3rd. That Juve had interest should be clear and now there could arise an opportunity. Bayern want to get rid and coming out with it ll prob result in a discount. Marotta has already opened his ears.
Götze would be :tuttosport:

Alves is not a legendary fullback? He is not a barca legend? The guy has been an important player for probably the most successful period for a club in modern football history and has always ranked as one of the top players in his position for almost a decade now. The only worry is if he suddenly declines the way Maicon did but if he can stay as good as he has been for 2 more years then that is a genius move. All we are risking really is his salary and not having a good rotation option for Licht. But for that small risk, we might have on our hands a fullback better than anyone else in the league by a distance and one of the best in the world for a year or two.

Mascherano wasn't bad enough, now lets take grandpa Alves. How about the average age of our defense? Rugani is the future for them all, in 3 years we'd play ... Rugani-Rugani-Rugani!

We have enough old players in the team so our youngsters have the proper leadership and good examples on and off the pitch, but you still need young legs along the old brains.

No to Alves, No to Mascherano!

As I read somewhere else here on Tuz, I think the club has a short term focus on winning the Champions League. We won't see big changes in our defense until 2018 when Buffon, Barzagli and most likely Evra will leave. We might even get the youngsters for defense next year to have 1 year of learning under those guys before they retire as we saw this year with Rugani. Not this summer though.
