Liverpool should give Benitez a part-time job and hire a manager who knows the Premiership.
Benitez should only be allowed to handle European matches. Liverpool should hire a EPL calibre coach as soon as humanly possible.
I couldn't see that working. If nothing else, it's a massive sign of no confidence in the manager.
Everyone knows the EPL is about speed and dogged defending. He has Cisse, a speedy player, but due to some unknown problem between himself and Cisse, the latter never plays.
I've never been a fan of Cisse. His first touch sends the ball futher than I can kick it. Sure, he's fast, but that's not much good when you play like you're wearing a bucket on your head.
On Sunday the fans were screaming for Rafa to put Cisse on the field, but he stubbornly refused until it was too late.
I don't subscribe to the idea that the fans know best. Frankly, any time things aren't going well, the fans start screaming for the opposite. When that doesn't work, they blame the manager. Liverpool's strikers are not good enough, beit form or something deeper. Either way, it'll get better in a few weeks. I don't see why everyone is panicking.
Luis Garcia has been anonymous for several matches now. He can't control a pass... can't run, can't control the ball, and seems to be looking for a space to perch under Peter Crouch's wings rather than pick up the pieces.
He isn't really a picking up the pieces kind of player. I don't think Garcia is suited to playing behind one striker, and even if he was, Crouch isn't that striker. I don't understand why he's chosen either. If Liverpool have a strong point, it's central midfield. They don't need another player dropping back.
The only player to come out of that match with any credit for me has to be Steven Gerrard. He ran, he hustled, he scored. His teammates let him down seriously. After all his hard work, he deserved at least a point from the match. Sadly it was not to be as Hyypia got exposed again and again by Drogba.
Gerrard is a big disruption on their game at times. He demands the ball, then wallops it thirty yards up the pitch to someone who has no support. He runs around like a headless chicken, tearing holes in his own team's formation. Why? It's like some sort of saviour complex.
Djimi Traore. Gimme a break. How the hell does this dude have a CL medal?
I'd ask the same of Kewell a lot sooner. Yes, he's not good enough. Why is Riise never played there? He's an excellent wing back.
