Bayern Munich are making a last-ditch bid to snatch Edin Dzeko from the jaws of Manchester City.
City remain hopeful of signing the £30million-rated Bosnia international after chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak stepped into negotiations with City's initial wage offer short of Dzeko's demands.
Yet Bayern believe they have a strong chance of hijacking the deal.

Dzeko, who travelled to Marbella in Spain yesterday with Wolfsburg for their winter training camp, is understood to want around £175,000 a week with City offering £150,000.
Bayern will offer that and are prepared to match City's £30m transfer outlay. They are also prepared to wait until the summer if Dzeko decides to see out the season with Wolfsburg - but that would not be totally ideal for Steve McClaren who needs transfer funds now to strengthen his side.
Juventus are also keen on Dzeko but would not be able to do a deal until the summer.
