Considering this is the worst Ebola outbreak in history, killing nearly 800 people thus, I thought it would deserve a thread of its own. If the WHO is claiming this outbreak is out of control, this will probably spread outside of Africa unless they can somehow manage flight risks. But from their report, it seems like people are refusing to go under quarantine which is bad news for everyone.

The good thing though is that all agencies in West Africa are on high alert and this thing can only be transmitted through bodily fluids. Not airborne like Outbreak, but that doesn't mean it can't mutate with all those infected.

"Things just went to 11 on the Spinal-Tap amplifier of massive infectious disease outbreaks. As AP reports, the Ebola outbreak that has killed more than 700 people in West Africa is moving faster than the efforts to control the disease, the head of the World Health Organization warned. Dr. Margaret Chan pulled no punches in her direct statement, "If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socio-economic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries." Time to panic?"

The AP article is there, too. If you prefer to use links to CNBC or MSNBC that is your problem. And a big problem at that.

As far as I know, it hasn't reached Nigeria yet. Reaching Nigeria, the most populated country in Africa, would mean trouble for the rest of the world.

What do you know about NBC? Please enlighten us.

Zerohedge offers an alternative viewpoint of MSM, and is correct in many matters regarding economics and markets.

Swag doesn't like it because the viewpoint offered is anti-Obama and the establishment.

    Think again, unfortunately.

What? I didn't say anything about NBC really, just that there are other news media than them and zerohedge.

Why is everyone afraid of a little thinning of the herd? The doctor's job is basically to resist natural selection. Natural selection needs a little boost now and then. :pumpkin:

Realistically, the world could use like a one or two billion drop in population.

    Mostly in the Mexico/India/China/Brazil areas.
Israel please. If it somehow reaches there without it hitting the neighbour countries. :xfinger:
