I saw your post an hour and a half ago, and I spent these 90 minutes watching it on youtube. Never watched it before. I held well until the last 20 minutes but then I broke. :)
Thanks for telling me about it. Great documentary. Too sad, though.
yup it is a tragic story really as an outsider it was compelling but to someone who grew up during the conflict i guess it holds far greater importance to you

ESPN did 30 for 30 and there have beena few good documentaries come out of thaty

Once were brothers
the story of the Yugoslav basketball team that looked set to dominate world basketball for years until the Balkan conflict ripped apart the nation and the friendships that the team had been bult on

Jordan rides the bus
an interesting look at what drove Michael Jordan to take a "sabbatical" from basketball and try his hand at baseball,he sucked but he certainly worked his ass off trying to make it

The two Escobars
the story of Pablo Escobar-drug lord and Andrés Escobar-footballer. the most interesting of all the documentaries i have seen charting the rise of Colombian football on the backing of the drug lords and the series of events that led to the deaths of both Pablo and Andrés Escobar
the two escobars was epic!! enjoyed it a lot

    Dancing boys of Afghanistan

It’s an ancient practice, secretly revived--young boys sold by families to 'entertain’ wealthy merchants and warlords. An undercover investigation into this illicit sex trade...
Very shocking and sad. Recemend this one to see what kids is going through over there. Pissed me off.

just finished watching a 10 hour documentary called Carrier and i loved it a lot, may be bec i wanted to be in the navy at one point :D

All Hands – Five-thousand sailors and Marines bid farewell to their loved ones before the mammoth USS Nimitz pulls out of California. Controlled Chaos – An aircraft carrier is a perilous environment.

Super Secrets – Many aspects of life on a nuclear aircraft carrier are hush-hush. Squared Away – Deployment is stressful for everyone aboard, and there can be friction between enlisted personnel and their superiors.

Show of Force – The Nimitz arrives in the Gulf and conditions are extreme. Groundhog Day – After two months in the Gulf, one day starts to become indistinguishable from the next.

Rites of Passage – The last day in the Gulf before the Nimitz heads home. True Believers – This episode explores the many expressions of faith onboard the USS Nimitz.

Get Home-itis – A six-month absence places a heavy burden on relationships. Full Circle – The journey home, and the reunions at the pier.

The playlist below contains all 10 episodes of this series, each 55 minutes long. Almost 10 hours of watching in total.

  i would've been a millionaire now if they had a bet you would be the first one to hit me :D:D:D:D big big difference as u know bisco loves top gun ( did i say that too out loud?!?!?! :D) if i get drafted here chances are i become an en-listed in the army big difference bro :D not the same thats for sure. actually tru story i did write up a letter to the navy programme and i actually got a reply from there head quarters in san diego were they were very impressed i hit them up, i was 15 at the time and they said they appreciate it a great deal that i wanted to serve but due to not being an american citizen or green card holder at the very least i could'nt but it was a good thing bec after watching this i realize dude that shit is hard!! being out for 6 month getting yelled at, if u r caught making out or holding hands on the boat living the love boat u get punished dude!!!!!! so i'm glad i've snapped out of that but between u and i navy>>>>> pharmacy thats a given me thinks. sadly here we dont have air craft carriers so i always wanted the air force as a replacement but due to me being an i.g.s.c.e grad i cant apply and having being born and raised out side egypt i'm not eligble so there came bisco's dreams of serving. A BLESSING IN DISGUISE i guess. non the less prepare the blanket although i have a good feeling i aint getting drafted bec i have the bomb surprise for the military and its MY DAD IS OVER THE AGE OF 60 and that clears my name and send my younger brother in :D:D mwahahahahahahaha

edit: when u get back to the bozinator pad i need to see that pic :D:D:D

    Exit Through The Gift Shop
By street artist Banksy. It's a cool story of a crazy french man and his obsession with street art. Nominated for an Oscar.
Watched this one a few days ago. Pretty good & entertaining, even if I'm quite convinced that it's mostly a mockumentary.

Also watched RIP - A Remix Manifesto, about copyright issues. After the first few minutes, I thought I wasn't going to like it since it was so extremely onesided. But I have to admit that they did make some really good points.

Absolute Zero. You'll learn some stuff that you could've never imagined was possible. We had to watch it for Thermo class and I have to write a paper on it now. The main point is to try reach a temperature of 0 Kelvin or as close as possible to that but it's impossible so instead they just show what that temperature does.

It also goes on about history. This one guy became the richest person in the United States by selling ice because before they had refrigerators it was impossible to make it.

    Very interesting stuff.

Thanks for what looks like good recommendations!

The documentary that made most of an impact on me was Capturing the Friedmans. It's about a family where the father(and the oldest brother i think) gets accused of pedophelia. The film is incredible because one of the brothers constantly videotaped the family under the extremely stressfull period. On top of that several of the family members stood up to interviews. Haunting and very interesting.

Waltz With Bashir is another good documentary about a dark chapter of the israeli-palestinian conflict. It is much more artistic than most docus - is is animated, quite personal and even includes dreams(!).
