Well either way. I think its risky placing Sissoko on a flank and make him play a role like Gattuso does in Milan... Rather put Xavi on a creative role on the left. We know he is good at switching positions, like he did with Iniesta in the Euros.

In any case, we are discussing dream formations here :)

that was even more fun to watch, but you cant deny that that system worked quite well for a bit

--------xavi
camo ------- sissoko
-------diego
Ignoring the fact that we'd need more than 40 or even 50 millions for that deal, only to see people like poulsen, giovinco and nedved on the bench; do you really expect sissoko to make flank runs? Come on... And do you really want someone like xabi alonso being the 'last help' to our defense row???

The formation you posted is far from a 'dream-formation' in my opinion.

Let's face it, diego CANNOT fit into our (or let's say 'ranieri's') system

Alonso is going nowhere... besides milan, go on and find a team who wants to give 22m € to a player who cannot play CL... is he asking NOW to leave or is this when we were linked with him (didn't read the article)? Because if he's whining NOW, he should have pushed when we were on the trigger! In fact, if he'd have given a clear message to the pool-board that he wants to go, i think he would have left. NOW it's rather impossible.

Either i missed something or i have a very hard time to see the how Xavi would fit the equation.

Not to talk about Sissoko being placed on a flank
Remember how this midfield worked?

Conte

Camoranesi - Davids

Nedved

Well, it would be similar to that. Sissoko would sit closer to the center of the pitch, and whomever plays left-back will have to be responsible for the entire left flank. Only problem is we don't have someone there that can handle that job.

In that formation Momo, won't be on the flank as winger. That formation is a narrow 4-4-2 witout wingers. He's a DM as well as Xabi Alonso. But they're different types. Xabi sits above the back four, not doing much running and chasing. Momo, doesn't sit, rather he runs and destroys. Camo won't be played sa winger either. He'll be played as a CM also. As Lawnchair Bes said, it'll be like Milan's midfield. Xabi = Pirlo, Sissoko = Gattuso, Camo = Seedorf, Diego = Kaka.
