Let's wait until it is confirmed; if so, it is a step in the right direction, but only a step. We still need to buy quality in defense (a decent RB, and a potential WC CB are in order) to appease and regain the trust and faith of our Champions and fans.

We must also retain our Champions. Otherwise, it would have all been in vain.

Diego deal is close
Thursday 7 May, 2009
Juventus have reportedly met with Werder Bremen officials to discuss the transfer of Brazil fantasista Diego.

The Bianconeri have long been admirers of the 24-year-old playmaker and are willing to break the bank for him.

Werder are reluctant to let him go, but the player, who started his career with Santos, is determined to leave.

Juventus face serious competition from Bayern Munich, who registered their interest in Diego late last week.

Werder want between £25 and £30m for the Brazil international and hope to spark a bidding war.

They may be disappointed, though, as only Bayern are believed to be capable of meeting their asking price.

Although, the odds looked stacked against Juventus, they are not thought to be at a disadvantage to Bayern.

Diego's father is keen for him to join the Bianconeri where he can achieve new goals and improve his visibility.

That could prove important as Diego's father apparently owns 15 per cent of his contract and has a big say in where he goes.

Diego has enjoyed another fine season, scoring 17 goals in 31 appearances for Werder in all competitions.
