Forza Hamburg tonight. If Werder is eliminated from UEFA, their season will be over. Absolutely nothing to play for them till the end. 4 rounds before the end they have 13pts advantage over the relegation fighters and they are 16pts behind the UEFA Cup places. Even theoretically they don't stand a chance to be relegated or play in Europe next year.
In that case, i can see this being announced as official tomorrow.
Dont be too excited!! Last year we were celebrating Xabi Alonso's transfer to Juve but it didnt materialize. So before its official i will not believe it. Besides, who is this player we have to give them? I think is Giovinco because Ranieri dodnt like him and our Ruineri will remain next year which means another wasted year. Besides, Diego will replace Nedved so we are not strenghtening our squad. He is just a repalcement not an addition. We need despeartely a left fullback and a quality midfielder. Besides, Trez will sure leave us so we will not have many options in attack. Is Iaquinta leaveing also? If ranieri remains also Camo will leave. We dont have quality backups, so I dont see Juve a competitive team next year. We will remain a mediocre team, like this year. We did less good than last year. We went backwards instead we improved on last year.

actually i said it when we were in Serie B as prior to our relegation the ultras had already suggested diego in the pipeline as a proper replacement for zidane. Plus i said it would only happen after we had qualified for the champions league, so in theory the board took nearly an extra year to wrap this deal up. To have come up with a bold statement as it was at the time i didnt make it up, as i said i got it from my sources, and you all simply laughed.

What was that song that always scared BD off Alen? :D

MILAN, May 7 (Reuters) - Werder Bremen’s Brazilian playmaker Diego is close to signing for Juventus, club president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli said on Thursday.

Media reports, which have also linked Bayern Munich and Inter Milan with the 24-year-old, said Juve had agreed a fee of 25 million euros ($33.3 million) with the Bundesliga club.

“We think talks are going well. We hope to conclude the deal but it is still not sealed,” Cobolli Gigli told reporters.

He also denied Juve were considering selling Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

The Turin club have dropped out of the title race having not won in five Serie A games but coach Claudio Ranieri has been told his job is safe until the end of the season.

Other signings are expected to boost their prospects next term. Winger Pavel Nedved is due to retire at the end of this season.

ROME (AFP) - Brazil playmaker Diego has signed for Juventus from Werder Bremen, according to a report by Italian news agency Ansa on Thursday.

The 24-year-old former Santos and Porto attacking midfielder has signed a four-year deal.

The news was not confirmed by either buying or selling club but Bremen's managing director Manfred Mueller told German magazine Sport-Bild: "It is well-known that we are in discussions, but some things still need to be straightened out and clarified."

Diego will cost the Italian giants 25 million euros and will earn 3.5 million euros a year, also according to Ansa.

However Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli denied a deal had been finalised.

"We are pursuing Diego and we're going forwards with transfer dealings, that's for sure," he said upon arriving at a Football League meeting.

"We hope to tie it up but things haven't yet been completed."

However, with Bayern Munich also rumoured to be after the Brazilian's services, Cobolli admitted it was too early to be chicken counting.

"I don't know (about Bayern's interest) but we are in the process of arranging a transfer," he said.

"However, you (the press) have taught me that in the football world anything can happen as long as nothing has been signed."

Diego has made 15 appearances for the Selecao and joined Bremen from Porto in 2006.

He has scored 37 times for Werder over three seasons including 11 strikes this season and he is known as a free-kick specialist.

Juve are third in Serie A but have not won in five matches, although they are still in a rebuilding phase having lost most of their best players when they were relegated to Serie B in 2006 for match-fixing.

From what others have said/heard so far, I believe the player is Poulsen.

I have a feeling that when Ranieri was safe, Giovinco was being shopped, likely for Cassano. Now that he's going to be tossed, the management want to keep Giovinco for the new guy, Spaletti/Prandelli/Gasperini/Conte.

After Gigli's comments today about not officially confirming Ranieri and tying his future to results (which are practically beyond salvage), there's no chance he stays for next season.

I can't help but postpone my celebrations until an official deal is done, considering what happened with Gabi Millito two years ago.

If this is real, then we should compliment Secco, but we really need a right back and a left back too.
