Jun,

Indeed, Quagliarella is unproven, but the problem is that once a player has proven he is good/great, his price goes up.
I am not saying Quagliarella has what it takes to become a worldclass player, I can't judge, I haven't seen enough from him, but my point is, sometimes it is better to take a risk with an unproven player, if he turns out great, then well done, else, we do a Oliveira with him, loan him out until his contract expires and then let him go.

from juves point of view, they have del piero, iaquinta and also palladino as forwards who can play off the main striker...so Quagliarella joining wouldnt make much sense.

Del Piero is here for at least one more season after this one, depending on how his body goes after a full season in serie A. Palladino is looking better every game and shows he has the skills and scoring capabilities as well. I just dont see a point in spending on such a player.

Udinese Double Di Natale Asking Price

Udinese have attempted to scare off AC Milan by essentially doubling the asking price for their star striker Antonio Di Natale.

Milan have reportedly earmarked the Azzurri striker as a key addition to their misfiring strike force. However, there are now serious doubts about whether they can land their man as after a summer of discontent Udiense and Di Natale seem to have put their troubles firmly behind them.

"We have an excellent relationship with the player,” said Udinese sports director Pietro Leonardi recently, and the club followed up the statement by increasing their valuation of the player from 12 million to 23 million euro.

Cause for the dramatic increase is the barn-storming form of the 29-year-old, who after scoring twice for the Azzurri in the Ukraine last Wednesday, followed that up with the winner for Udinese against Juventus and both goals during the 2-0 win against Reggina on the weekend

They must be kiddin when they said 20M. It's funny how some smallers clubs are rising prices of their players and more funny thing is that they are getting money they want, just look at Drenthe, Babel, Dos Santos, Diarra, D. Alves etc.

They don't really want that kind of money for him, it seems to be fashion to say 5 times the amount you actually want. Of course you could get lucky and get Real Madrid or Chelsea to actually pay that amount...

Roma join Di Natale chase

Roma are planning an offer of up to £15m for Antonio Di Natale according to the latest reports in Italy.

The Italian international has been linked with a move away from Udinese after publicly confessed his desire to join a more ambitious side such as the Giallorossi.

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti believes Toto is the right man for his 4-2-3-1 system and the perfect replacement for Amantino Mancini, who could leave the Capitale at the end of the season.

The Brazilian winger is unsure whether to renew his contract, which expires on June 2009, and the Lupi could decide to cash in this summer.

Mancini has been eyed by Liverpool and Lyon, with the French giants ready to make a more than satisfactory £13m bid for him.

Sporting director Daniele Prade is considering their options and could make an official enquiry to Udinese for their 30-year-old striker.

The Zebrette are expected to listen to offers, but their demands are likely to be incredibly high unless their relationship with Di Natale deteriorates further.

Meanwhile, Colombian defender Cristian Zapata has agreed a new contract with the Friulani, which is due to end in 2012.

Udinese are now hoping to follow suit with new deals for Nigerian midfielder Christian Obodo and Italian Under-21 defender Andrea Coda.

Zapata would have been the far better option in comparison to Kompany,he is already 'experienced' in Serie A and he probably would have been not that expensive,Kompany on the contrary is injury-prone and he would has to get used to Serie A.Even if the media said they wanted 20m € for Zapata I belive we could have snatched him for a bit more than the half as we have good connections to Udinese.

not sure what others think but if Di Natale went to Roma, and Mancini was leaving, I think he would be great to have as Nedved's replacement at the club.

I know we have Giovinco on loan, plus Palladino and Del Piero...but i would rather play Mancini in the Nedved role.

Mancini is a good option. He is injury prone though and maybe Roma wouldn´t sell him to a direct rival.

Where were u during the summer during the Chivu saga. It's clear that Roma doesn't care who they sell a player to, all they care is about how much money they will get instead.

That is not true at all. Real Madrid and Barcelona were offering more money to Roma than Inter, yet Roma accepted all 3 offers and allowed the clubs to negotiate with the player. Chivu wanted to join Inter and by the way, Inter put the best contract offer on the table.

My point is that maybe they will demand more money from Juventus due to being their domestic rival. Chivu saga was a different case. Chivu´s contract was due to expire next summer and he didn´t want to sign a new contract, which would make him a free agent in summer 2008. Thus Roma was desperate to cash in on him, whichever club it was. When does Mancini´s contract end? If it´s next summer and Mancini doesn´t prolong it , we have a good chance then. Juventus is good in signing free agents.

I dont think that replacing Nedved with a 31 years old payer (we're talking about next year) is a good idea

On the other hand if we already have a Nedved replacement (Giovinco) but he needs time to get more experience, then Mancini sound like a very good temporary replacement for Nedved if we won't pay much for him
