As Inter revive their bid for David Trezeguet, Juventus turn to Ajax starlet Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Gilberto Silva.
The Nerazzurri have been linked with Trez several times in the past, but the latest dispute with Adriano – who went into a Brazilian hospital for check-ups without the club’s knowledge – sparked a new attempt to sign him.
According to today’s 'Corriere dello Sport’ newspaper, Massimo Moratti has contacted Juve and Trezeguet to test the waters for a transfer.
The Frenchman is in the middle of contract renegotiations and is considered to be the most likely of the Bianconeri stalwarts to walk out after their promotion back to Serie A.
As his current deal expires in 2008, Trezeguet could be released for as little as £7m thanks to the new FIFA regulations.
Juventus are already looking to the future in case of his departure and had already set their sights on Sampdoria sensation Fabio Quagliarella and Milan’s Alberto Gilardino.
However, there is also a firm link with Ajax talent Huntelaar, who has been specially requested by new Coach Claudio Ranieri.
The Dutchman is ready to leave his club and seek other challenges abroad, while his price-tag is relatively low compared to many of the star strikers in circulation.
There is an even more urgent issue, though, as Ranieri has urged Juve to bring in a strong midfielder, the role that was never truly filled following Emerson’s move to Real Madrid.
Now that 'Il Puma’ is close to Milan and therefore unlikely to return to Turin, the Bianconeri have instead turned to fellow Brazilian Gilberto Silva.
The Arsenal giant is of interest to several top sides in Europe, but it’s reported director of sport Alessio Secco made enquiries several months ago and so confirmed their bid was a solid one.

Somigliando ormai più a una partita di poker, che a colloqui per un prolungamento contrattuale, seppur complicato, la Juve e David Trezeguet a metà della prossima settimana si troveranno ancora attorno a un tavolo. Al francese arriverà pure una telefonata di Claudio Ranieri, partito ieri per le vacanze, che vuole sondare volontà e convinzione del bomber. Il resoconto delle mani precedenti è presto stilato: l’attaccante ha un accordo che scade a giugno 2008, dopo di che, a costo zero, potrà andarsene ovunque. Il club bianconero, ovviamente, vorrebbe rinnovare il contratto o, s’intende, venderlo. L’allungamento è stato già proposto qualche settimana fa, ma sotto non c’è finita una firma.
L’ad juventino Jean-Claude Blanc e il direttore sportivo Alessio Secco riproveranno: sono disposti a spostare la data di scadenza al 2010, cioè mettendo sul piatto due anni supplementari. Spalmando però lo stipendio del francese, che ora viaggia ben oltre i 4 milioni di euro a stagione: nel nuovo contratto la cifra scenderebbe a 3,5 milioni. Su questo David e il padre Jorge, che è il suo procuratore, dovranno riflettere. «Guardi anche l’aspetto economico, durante la carriera, ma quello che conta è il progetto sportivo», si sbilanciò una volta Trezeguet (3 marzo 2007), poi ribadendo il concetto ad Arezzo, uscendo dagli spogliatoi con la serie A nuovamente nei piedi. Potrebbe dimostrare che è vero: e non solo per far finta di essere in una fiaba, ma guardando (comprensibilmente) al proprio interesse. Il taglio ai denari è evidente, ma Trezegol, per dire di no, dovrà avere buone possibilità di poterne cacciare di più. E qui, qualche dubbio c’è. L’unica trattativa ora in piedi, infatti, è quella con il Valencia che se lo prenderebbe subito, ma offrendo 2,5 milioni a stagione. La situazione è ben chiara anche a Ranieri che già stasera, o domani, telefonerà a Trezeguet. Caro David - dirà in sostanza il tecnico - sei un grandissimo giocatore e se hai voglia di restare con noi sarò molto felice; se invece pensi di non avere gli stimoli giusti, meglio salutarci ora. Intanto, a breve, l’allenatore potrebbe avere Almiron.

Why is Trezeguet going to Inter SUCH a huge issue when we might end up with Huntelaar instead?Ofcourse id prefer it if he was sold to a team outside Italy,but if his sale to an Italian Team meant that we'd end up with Huntelaar,then id have absoloutley no issues with it.Inter are extremley strong financially and and if they want Trezeguet bad enough,then im sure they'd be willing to pay more than what he's actually worth and that is good for us.
