Juventus will hold showdown talks with David Trezeguet this week in an effort to iron out his future.

The striker has just one year left on his Turin contract which means the club must extend that agreement or sell him to rule out the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2008.

And now that the outfit have appointed Claudio Ranieri as their new boss, the club is ready to hold discussions with key players – starting with the Frenchman.

“We will meet Trezeguet this week in order to discuss our options,” confirmed Juve director general Jean-Claude Blanc.

“We wanted to wait until we chose a new Coach because we wanted to discuss our plans with him first.

“Now that Ranieri is here, we can continue the work on the team which we had already started some weeks ago.”

Should the former Monaco man leave then Juventus have reportedly already got a replacement in mind – Ajax sensation Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

The 23-year-old forward netted 33 goals in the Dutch League last season and followed that up with 23 this term.

Huntelaar first caught the eye of major Italian clubs thanks to his performances in the European Under-21 Championships last summer, where he was voted Player of the Tournament.

Other striking options for the Old Lady remain Vincenzo Iaquinta of Udinese, Milan’s Alberto Gilardino and Rolando Bianchi of Reggina.

Juventus already made three signings in January for next season by netting Ajax’s Zdenek Grygera and Bayern Munich’s Hasan Salihamidzic on Bosman deals.

Genoa defender Domenico Criscito, an Under-21 international, will also be in Turin next season.

If we could get Huntelaar for nearly the money we get for Trezeguet and Trezeguet wants to leave we should sell him now. We would get nothing for him in one year.

i agree i love trezeguet hes had alot of great moments my favorite was when he missed the penalty kick in the world cup final to grant italy the trophy which made him one of my favorites(i bet he wasnt so happy about it) i will miss trezegol but if we cant convince him to stay then he has to be sold and we need to buy either gilardino or huntelaar, huntelaar is in better form yet doesnt want to leave ajax yet, gilardino has been in bad form at milan and wants to leave so whoever we could buy i would be happy with yet i would prefer gilardino come here so that he can jumpstart his career back from suckiness

Milan chief Adriano Galliani... from Channel 4

Gilardino is understood to be keen on a move to Juventus which has led to speculation that the Old Lady may offer David Trezeguet in return.

“Trezeguet is a player who we really like, but we can’t exchange a player who was born in 1982 with one who is five years older.”

“However, seeing as we can’t guarantee him a starting shirt and we didn’t appreciate his recent interview, I have given him permission to leave – so long as someone pays us £17m.”

I love Trezeguet to death; he's my favorite Juventus player, but if he wants to leave then so be it. I only hope he's replaced by Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

Trezeguet To Part Ways With Juventus?

David Trezeguet’s stay at Juventus has become uncertain as the club’s management are focusing on netting other forwards.

Earlier today, newly appointed Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has urged the club’s top players to stay at the Old Lady, and Ranieri mentioned a few names.

However, David Trezeguet wasn’t among the mentioned players, and this has sparked reports that the French international is set to leave Juve this summer.

Trezeguet is soon set to meet Jean-Claude Blanc, as the latter will try to convince Trezeguet to stay at Juve. However the situation is tricky, as they must get him to sign a new contract.

Juve cannot afford to keep Trezeguet for another year, due to the fact that the striker will be out of contract next summer. If he refuses to sign on the dotted line, the club will be forced to cash in.

Meanwhile, Juventus are in the works to strengthen the attacking department, and many possible purchases have been mentioned: Saviola, Huntelaar, Rolando Bianchi, Gilardino, Iaquinta and Diego Milito.

If Juve were to purchase 2 of those players, then Trezeguet will almost certainly be sold. A move to Spain or France is being rumoured, perhaps even as a part of another deal. Lyon have been one of the clubs mentioned, with Juve interested in Cris and Diarra.

17m for gila, holyshyte.

I really like trez. And I hope he wont leave. But he probably will and if he does, better now than when we get nothing from him next season.

IF he leaves (I'd be very sad if, or when that happens) - I wish him the best of luck, and thank you for staying in B with us, willingly or not is another matter. You nontheless played in B and helped us go back up.

Of course I'd still prefer him extending the contract.

I dont think he'll go to Milan though.

I think it's the other way around. Trez has already said in the last few months that he wants to stay, he loves the jersey, etc. The management wants to give him a 25% smaller contract which is bullshit. Fucking assholes, sure bring Iaquinta for that money..
