Are you sure? It's gonna make you sad.

Trezegol on Sky: "I was hoping to end my career at Juve. Many players have arrived who are not up to it. Time will tell if Matri is meant for Juve. Del Piero's contract? Meaningless hesitation"
From the fog of Torino to the palms of "Explanada de España". David Trezeguet didn't choose it for no reason: Alicante is the city of his wife Beatrice, a happy oasis on the Costa Blanca [coast], a look at the Baleari [islands] and a terrace mounted on Algeri [mountains, probably]. Leaving Juventus was a great displeasure for the 33-year-old French-Argentinian; he would have liked to end his career in the shirt of the Old Lady, too bad he "wasn't part of the project anymore". He, the best goal scorer of all time in Juve history (171 goals in 320 matches, and sorry if that's not enough). So many were after him last summer, big clubs in the EPL and in Serie A itself, even Real Madrid. But Trezegol preferred a bigger challenge, a choice of the heart, to bring Hercules to safety of its sweet goal.
David, how hard was it to adopt the mentality of a freshman [at the new club]?
The sun and the sea of Alicante surely helped me. No, it's obvious that on a sporting level it's been a real revolution, but I felt the need to still feel important, which at Juve they could no longer assure me of. And then there is the satisfaction of scoring with a "small" (10 goals so far in the Liga) team, you feel even more appreciated.
It seems you wages weren't arriving regularly, though.
That's true, there have been problems, but for a club used to the B [ie. Segunda] it's not easy to balance the books in the top league right off the bat, where the expenses are considerably higher. You need a little bit of patience. By now the financial situation has been cleared up, they've paid us the owed wages and we're tranquil.
Is the Spanish championship very different from the Italian?
Serie A is definitely more balanced. In Spain Barca and Real play among themselves, then there is everyone else.
In the January transfer market your name was often associated with other clubs like Milan and Inter, maybe even Real Madrid.
The interest of these big clubs has been very pleasant to me, I know that many players have spoken well of me, Mourinho too made a inquiry. But in the end nothing happened. In any event I'm not the type who abandons the boat, we'll see at the end of the season.
The former coach of the French NT Domenech called your colleagues "a bunch of snotty irresponsible kids", those who were such a flop in South Africa. Now that he's no longer there (and his astrological mania [don't know what the reference means]) would you return to the NT? Have you spoken to Blanc?
It's not the first time he's said things like that [Domenech], I'm not surprised. Thankfully I have a great relationship with Blanc and we respect each other. I'm pleased they have started well in the qualifiers for the Euro, even though I think the real objective is the World Cup in Brazil. He's betting a lot on the "green line" [young players] and I understand him. I've told him I'm available, so if one day he needs me I'm ready.
Sticking to the topic of the NT, did you hear about the collector who had bought your shirt from the World Cup 98 at an auction, which was then burned by the customs people who thought it was fake?
I've heard about it, and I felt very sorry for him. Apart from the financial side, I imagine that to him it was more of an emotional thing, tied to history. Unfortunately he won't have that shirt, but if he'd like another one I'll give him one, the one he most prefers.
Speaking of shirts, your number 17 is still among the most missed at the Olimpico. This year your goals have been dearly missed, even if they seem to have found the new Trezeguet in Matri.
The fans have always been very affectionate with me, that's why I'm hoping to return to Torino soon to hug them and thank them for all their love. So many new players have arrived, and many have not been good enough. Alessandro is an attacker with great qualities, but that alone is not enough. The will, the ability to suffer through the tough moments, and continuity are even more important. Time will tell if he has all these components.
At Corso Galileo Ferraris they're struggling to strike that happy deal with Del Piero to extend his contract.
It seems absurd to me, there shouldn't be the least bit of hesitation for a monument like Alex. But unfortunately the club has changed.
Where would you like to end your career?
I was hoping at Juve, but that wasn't possible. Still, I'm calm, I don't even ask myself the question, I'm still young. As long as I have the desire to have fun I'll continue doing my profession: making holes in the goals of adversaries.
