I don't think that any of this is rooted in a desire of the manager or board to get rid of Trezeguet. He remains one of the finest goal poachers in the world game, and can continue at the top level for at least another year or two...This smacks of Trezeguet's doing...ever since his disrespectful outburst after the chelsea game, things haven't been right with his relationship with the club. Perhaps that is when chelsea approached him, and his instant reaction was to cause a rift with the club, paving the way for him to leave with the chance of blaming the lack of support from the club for his departure...
Whatever the reasoning, for Ranieri to have started him in that game, arguably our most important game for three years, shows that he is rated very highly by Ranieri...
if he goes, it will be down to Trezeguet, not the club wanting to cash in on his former glory while they still can.
