Sky was reporting that he said to Sarri that nobody gives him opportunities to score (create for him)

Doesn't surprise me tbh
Yes, we create way too little and often that final ball, whether it's a cross or through-pass are shit. Having said that, I don't know how wasteful he was in La Liga (since i wouldn't watch many Real games), but I have seen him miss some huge opportunities that he would score with his eyes closed in the games I've seen him play before joining Juve. In the last 3/4 games alone he could have easily scored a couple of hattricks.

I don't know about you guys, and I am not sure why I have this feeling but I wouldn't be surprised to see him leave tbh unless we improve drastically over the summer. The competitive freak he is I am sure he wants to have 1 maybe 2 more shots at the CL and fully knowing what our limitations are he probably won't have it here unless as said, we drastically improve over the summer. I know he isn't really linked to other clubs or anything, just a weird gut feeling.

The notion that we don’t create enough for CR7 is laughable. The man is so so wasteful. Mostly wasteful because of his insistence to look for his own shot 97% of the time as well as his lack of desire to keep possession when he’s not inside our attacking third/quarter. He’s an incredible player with great desire and world class abilities, but this team would have 15 more goals with Mertens replacing CR7.

Not gonna happen. His transfer fee is too high for the post Covid market, plus the window is halfway done. Not enough time for a deal like this to go through.

Which part doesn't surprise you, the story or the likelihood it is a journalist trying to cause trouble?

I think we can all see that it has not been the most fluent and prolific attacking machine so far.

Let’s speak in hypothetical first... are you stating the just because someone scores 19 goals from open play and 12 from the spot, that player cannot be classified as wasteful?

I’m not trying to crap on CR7 either. I think it’s quite clinical that he’s only missed 3 pk’s in 2 years, I’m just saying that he clearly has be wasteful with his scoring chances and he’s wasteful with the football in other parts of the pitch. If you think that this mild criticism is trolling, it’s not, I think the player is remarkable. Short of hand delivering a CL, that man’s really raised the profile of this club, i just dont think you can dispute that he keeps all the goals for himself. A bitmore selflessness you help the squad.

No player has a 100% conversion though. If you look at the statistics for the best forwards across the top 5 leagues over the last few seasons, you would find they all miss plenty of chances - more than Ronaldo. It's just that with our team creating such few chances per match, his misses are more pronounced. In comparison, someone like Lewandowski could miss 1 big one but get 3 more served on a plate immediately after. With Ronaldo, that solitary big one is probably it for the game. The other chances he gets are half-ones at best and people will expect him to score them.

I saw a clip once of a PL scout talking about how they evaluate strikers. Basically if a player has a high conversion rate on limited chances during a season it most likely is a fluke season/ they are over-performing. Strikers creating or having a lot of chances shows a consistency in the player's movement and understanding of the game, regardless of the conversion rate.

A good example is Dzeko who missed a lot of sitters his first season in Roma, but his movement was so good he would continue to create chances and in his 2nd season he turned it around.

Ronaldo has always wasted a lot, but his movement is so insanely good he will get enough to score. In Real he got 8-10 chances a game, an attack with much more creativity than ours, and he scored 2-3. In Juve he gets 4 and scores 1. Very few players have the ability to even get to as many chances as Ronaldo.

So basically we can rely on a Higuain type, who is a better pure finisher but doesn't have the athleticism and understanding to create as many chances. If he gets 1 or 2 chances and doesn't score he's most likely done for the game. Or you can chose a Cr7 who if he misses those 1 or 2, will get 3 more chances and still win you the game.

Saw a statistic the other day where they showed how much clear chances strikers get in the top European leagues and Ronaldo wasn’t in the top 20, meanwhile with goals he’s among the best.

Ronaldo is at times a bit wasteful. Missed a lot of headers this month and I remember him missing a lot at the start of the season.

In my opinion tho we should mainly focus on giving him chances in the box. His speed and qualities on the ball are decreasing, he’s not more the young Ronaldo who did a lot with his pace. He’s a intelligent goal scoring winger, who’s great at positioning and anticipating. We are failing massively on this part, giving him way to less chances. It was the same last year.

He makes a lot of runs, but we rarely give the ball. He’s also no tiki taka player, he’s at his best when he has space.

What I very dislike from our tactics is that we rarely give a cross to him. A cross to the second pole to Mandzukic has been a weapon we’ve used for years. Sarri should see that it’s perfectly possible with Cuadrado and Ronaldo.

I’m optimistic if we’re going to use a more direct approach; Dybala dropping back a bit, Ronaldo who makes a run in the box, Arthur as LCM who can create space and Sandro/Pellegrini who can provide width during a attack sounds really solid to me.

For now it’s fair to say that Ronaldo is a bit wasteful, but on the other side we ain’t using him in the best way possible.

I said he was wasteful but still put in 30 goals. Lets not pretend that normal attackers can just be in all those positions
