The sheer self belief and self confidence of the man is probably a big part of the reason he’s as good as he is and able to thrive under pressure. He’s had the same mentality since he was a prospect. Rio Ferdinand once remarked on how when he came to United for the first time and one of the first things he said was, “I’m going to be the best player in the world.” What took them by surprise was how fearless and confident he was in a dressing room with all of these seasoned pros but he wasn’t phased.
