160-6.
pietersen made a shaky start, but he's getting the runs.if england can get a lead of around 280-290.

time is the most important factor, but runs on the board will be a big factor too.england cant go in a shell.pietersen shud keep on playing his natural game.im sure the aussies will bat today, and my guess is that they might get aroiund 35-40 overs.a total of around 280-290 shud be enough for england provided that they dont give australia more than 35 overs.

this is shaping up like a one day.

england need to bat another 2 hours or so and they cud be safe.
pietersen is looking good.
collingwood can bat.
jones can bat.

5 down for 163. That's better than I expected but the game isnt safe just yet. They need to bat into tea and that should seal the Aussie's fate.

And AXL, 280 is not on. Unlikely they'll get there. A figure close to 250 will pretty much shut out any Aussie hope even if they come out all guns blazing.

it depends on how quickly england get out.
if pietersen goes berzerk,im not ruling out a score of over 250.
but i agree with you on the tea factor.australia shoudnt get more than 30 overs.

pietersen and collingwood and batting along nicely.
the heading on cricinfo.com says "pitersen fights fire with fire"
how appropritate:D

but man, warne is turning the ball or WHAT.its fvcking insane.
everytime pietersen plays him across the line,i fear hes gonna get an edge.

yep.pietersen keeps on attacking.
warne's attacking pietersen around the wicket.the guy needs imporvement on padding the ball away.he jsut survived a very close bat and pad call.

another hour will do it most probably.
183/5.england on top.

@ Tom: Accountancy, I guess its ok to start with as long as you intend to branch out in due time because that could be one helluva boring profession. Keep at it though, good on you. While Im at it, how big is advertising in the UK? Been looking at getting some experience abroad, and the UK would be one of the destinations Ive shortlisted, however, if only the sun would shine there more often. And I just wish I didnt have to leave my lovely India, but I think its important to get an experience away from the comforts of home.
Its actually not that boring, not that I'm gonna ever convince anyone, its probably cos I work for a small firm and we got a bunch of young people on the top floor we can all get along and have a laugh with. The work itself is actually ok too, but if we worked in silence like the big firms do I'd be out like a shot admittedly.

Advertising is massive in the UK, radio, TV, billboards, adverts are everywhere you go, so I can imagine the industry is huge, with a hell of a lot of money going to effective marketing managers/directors in particular. If you were going to specialise in just advertising I'd imagine you'd be on a lower payscale than a marketing man though.

 My man KP, what a knock and what an ovation from the crowd. Thank heavens we've got a worthy replacement for Thorpey in the middle order

Unbelievable stuff. Crazy innings by Pietersen, perhaps his greatest innings ever, no matter what he does from hereon in. Too bad it came so early in his career. What was important here however, is that now that Australia have lost, the chopping and changing is whats going to lead to the shift in the balance of power. How far west I wonder? India and Pakistan in transition, England have risen from the Ashes, literally speaking. England, India, Pakistan? Is that the big 3?

Not as worried about the dosh, as I am about the right channel. Currently in advertising, Im actually looking at a transition into brand management, or a position as a marketing manager like you stated. That would be way way interesting. Australia's another venue Ive been looking at since its marginally closer to home. But not that distance will be a bone of contention, climate could however.
