Bro it's nonsense, there's no vaccine to any respiratory virus as far as i know, flu doesn't count not only do you need to do it every year it's rarely effective.

I was fine taking the initial vaccine, which to be fair to them is still incredibly effective against serious illness in all the current variants, including lambda. However, I won’t be taking boosters. I’ve done my part. Lol

? I was always getting the two shots and then done. I’ve never in my life taken a flu shot, and as long as this thing doesn’t morph into some far deadlier disease I won’t be taking boosters for it every year.

I’m perfectly fine taking an mRNA vaccine to help my country get this thing under control, which is what has happened here. And perfectly fine wearing a mask to reduce spread by however much or little it helps, because it does help at least a little. But I expect that in the significant period of time doing these things have bought (before new variants come that entirely bypass current antibodies) a proper plan to have a fully functioning society again and to coexist with the virus now going forward. So far, that’s what is happening in BC and my expectation is that it will continue

Nah. I see the difference between vaccinated places and unvaccinated places. And the numbers on hospitalizations, ICUs, and deaths between vaxxed and unvaxxed, and these shots are clearly working to reduce the hospital burden of Covid. Which is the entire point.

Yeah, it’s a little bizarre that they have done so little research into protections against variants that antibodies from already recovering give people. You’d think it would be an important detail in the fight against Covid and could have allowed a more pinpointed vaccination strategy. It’s clear from the number of infections happening with delta that recovering from earlier variants doesn’t give everyone protection against catching it again or even getting very sick, but I’d imagine they would help for at least some people.

Exactly, if mutations can keep evading vaccinations it would be good to know whether natural immunity has a better chance of resisting them. You know, some people (call them crazy) may not want to be dependent on booster shots for perpetuity.

Also, perhaps we would achieve herd immunity quicker (maybe we would have already in some places by now) if more people did build their own immunity through natural infection rather than vaccination.

So yeah, it would be good to know. But for some reason no one is really talking about that. Or my understanding is just lacking, which is quite likely as well.

I'm not saying it will, but it's worth knowing if the alternative is booster shots for the rest of your life.

And yeah, seeing as I never took a flu shot and don't remember ever having the flu perhaps I've built up immunity over time.

I agree. It won't go away, even if we vaccinate 95% of the world.

Then we should change the formulation? The goal should always be reducing hospitalization and protecting the healthcare system. I agree that vaccines are sold as pandemic slayers and it was stupid.

I don't know what the formulation is but if it means every single person needs to be taking shots every 6 months or year for some undetermined period of time, and proving it with a passport in order to be part of society then don't you think that's fuckin sick?
