Creating a bioweapon that would cause the most possible damage... is that the only possible reason for scientists to create a virus? Maybe some kind of research, or to be better prepared in the case of naturally occurring ones for example.

Or let's say the purpose was to create bioweapons, why create one that's not as lethal/infectious as possible? Maybe they would want something they had some sort of control over i.e. being able to create treatments/vaccines.

Just to play the devil's advocate. Creating something that is too deadly and too obvious, which spins out of control is not something anyone would do though. Releasing a controlled, not so lethal one can cause a lot of havoc, and it has, if we don't count bodies but overall impact.

Lab-leak hypothesis is not that at all. In short it is that the Chinese lab did gain-of-function research on Coronaviruses from bats to prevent a future pandemic. But making viruses more transmissible to humans (this is what gain-of-function do) can lead to a leak by contaminating someone from the research lab and he'll spread it in public. It's basically an incident due to a dangerous research that is made for a noble cause.

My uncle died a couple days ago from a heart attack, thought to have possible been brought on by Covid. He got a negative test result prior but his son got a positive. No known heart or health problems before. Also, he got his first dose of Astra two weeks ago.

I guess we'll have to wait to see if it was Covid, if we ever find out.

Actually it is possible to test negative but the virus remains dormant for a few days. Only then you will test positive. It’s unlikely but possible.

I'm surprised that people like Fauci and Daszak managed to keep it quiet for so long. So far the evidence points only at a lab leak after gain-of-function experiments. There is no evidence for a natural evolution of this virus. No intermediate animal host has been found so far and the Chinese authorities had all the time in the world to look for it.

One good thing that can come out of this is to stop this gain-of-function non-sense.
