I've heard some similar stories (about not trusting the government). And I understand it, because I often times feel the same way myself.
But it remains confusing to me.

Just because your government made a shady deal for FFP2 masks, does that make FFP2 masks useless? Do you not wear them because of that? Or do you make a distinction? Shady deal (well, fraud is what it sounds likes), but the mask itself is still useful?
Just because you don't trust your government, does that have to mean you don't trust a vaccine? A vaccine that wasn't created by your government, but that is being recommended by specialists all over the world. Specialists who know what they're talking about, as opposed to whatever random person that was elected. Let alone whatever someone random posts online.

Etc.

Not trusting your governement may be rational behaviour. But the things you do or don't do because of that mistrust aren't necessarily rational.

Over here, we basically have 3 main groups that are "anti".
On the one hand the far right and on the other hand the far left & immigrants. Which is funny. They can't stand each other, but they finally agree on something.

Actually, there's a 4th group as well: young(er) people. The ones that are into "critical thinking". They get their news from "reliable" sources/influencers on the internet. Their shoe size is usually higher than their IQ.
I love how you're breaking it down like you're talking to a 5 year old

I was referring to Hofferboffer's article which specifically identified Danish trust in their national government as key factor in their COVID success (not the global expert opinion) and on that basis explained the difference to Germany. (+USA etc)

The US needs like a political Thunderdome so we can lock all the wokesters and Qberts in cages to fight to the death with chainsaws.

We make it pay-per-view and raise money to pay off the national debt.

Right wing hatred of science extending to medicine and health care now. It’s weird as fuck. I always used to think a lot of the anti-modern medicine and science folk were hippy dippy quacks on the far left, but Covid is exposing a very large and vocal element of this on the far right.
Just so we're clear: I got my vaccine in May and was always going to get one as soon as I could.

But part of me thinks we are a bit too quick to dismiss everyone who doesn't want to get a vaccine as a lunatic or some poor misguided soul. I have no doubt that there are a lot of crazy people, who don't trust anything the government says or are anti-science. But not taking a vaccine that has not really gone through any sort of normal development period is not necessarily stupid. Especially when you know your risk of dying or even becoming seriously ill is close to zero.

I'm also quite disgusted with the hypocrisy of not making the vaccines mandatory. They are giving people the illusion of free choice, but ridicule everyone who doesn't get one. And even worse: people who refuse to get a vaccine are now guilt tripped and supposedly the only reason we are still in this. Nevermind the fact that we are so far gone that we are actually contemplating making a distinction between vaccinated and non-vaccinated people in public life.

Either make them mandatory or not, but if you don't, please shut up about people not getting them.

It's fine if people don't want to get them. If I didn't like to travel or eat at restaurants, I might not have gotten the vaccine either. But if you choose not to get it, please don't create a bunch of fear-mongering about them to allay your own cognitive dissonance. If you're going to be so vocal about not getting it, then don't complain when someone ridicules you for pushing false narratives.

I still see and hear people saying that the vaccine is useless since you can still get covid despite being vaccinated. That's fucking retarded and lacks so much understanding.

So if it can't stop the spread why exactly do you need vaccine restrictions?

People who got one are being way more loud when talking about those who didn't get it. It's vaccinated people that are more vocal imo, like they have been enlightened and their task is to help others see the path of truth. They say it should be a free choice yet they shit all over those who didn't get it. Why? Because you can eat outside and travel? Doesn't seem like a valid reason.

I’m not telling people what to do. They need to know their own risk tolerance. I think people are sick of seeing deaths from it but hey, they’re only a number after all, so who cares.

When we look at <40 people I think death rate is like 0.001%. if those who find themselves at risk take the vaccine then not much should be happening, no?

Dude, I’ve said multiple times I have no problem with people not wanting to get the vaccine, or being hesitant for various reasons, so I definitely agree with you. It’s more so the right wing nutters who believe we are being injected with 5G microchips, or being killed off with it in a Bill Gates inspired depopulation strategy. Or the NBA players like Kyrie Irving who think it’s a white satanist plot against Black people  @ALC

What? Anti -vaxxers literally protesting outside hospitals here and blocking ER access for ambulances. And when they aren’t doing that they are spamming a few dozen posts a day about vaccine conspiracies. Tell me where pro-vaccination people are out protesting anti-vaxxers?

they think that because they’ve done their research.

one would assume so, but I wonder why it isn’t like that
I wish there was a way to prevent some of those deaths
